I am a dead set ford fan and although I never thought I'd see the day. I am seriously considering the dark side next time around. Still 284 is the best its ever been and the new rims look really shiney. I'm glad they had started to corrode because a couple of months ago one got some gutter rash and 2 others had tiny scratches where the rubber protector fell off the end of the wheel cleaning brush. Yours is a shocker needing a turbo and an auto. One thing I have to say in favour of these cars is that I've never had a significant mechanical issue with any GT or Typhoon I've owned. But if this had have been nmy first one, it would definately have been my last. Time to see if I can get an enjoyable experience from this now. I am a dead set ford fan and although I never thought I'd see the day. I am seriously considering the dark side next time around.I have an aquaintance that is the service manager for a Ford dealership in Melbourne. He drives a VE HSV and won't buy a Ford because he knows what service is offered. He says the service and experience with HSV is 100x better than Ford. He's had problems, but the way they are handled are vastly better than the Ford equivalent. Unfortunatley, maybe the grass is greener on the dark side!I'm glad they had started to corrode because a couple of months ago one got some gutter rash and 2 others had tiny scratches where the rubber protector fell off the end of the wheel cleaning brush.I'm quietly hoping mine do the same. The previous owner was a nice lady driver who seemed to have a massive love affair with gutters. All 4 wheels have been raped.Yours is a shocker needing a turbo and an auto.Searching the warranty history for this car I found that the thing had a new engine put in at 3000km... Some sort of block or crank failure. I believe this is what killed the auto and turbo. Either way, its spent alot of time in the shop and had alot of work done to it... Its easily a loss maker for Ford with warranty costs exceeding $30,000.If I had my way, they would have all been swapped soon after I bought the car with around 12,000km on it, as I've known they were duds since then. But I've had to painfully wait another 17,000km before it was all resolved, not knowing what Ford warranty had become. The sh*tbox has just hit 30,000km.All I can say is some people are really fantastic at picking the "good" ones... Good luck with your one!

I was going to buy a 6GET.I still have my F6 which I think I will never part from. Edited 16/10/09 03:19 AM by arronm

Just hoping its going to stay that way.

I couldn't do another one for the mere fact that if it is a lemon (which all brands can produce) your stuffed if its a ford lemon. 27 shots to get it right and then only with the threat of legal action, which still costs money for the letter, is a bit beyond a joke and killed the whole ownership experience. It's like having a glamour girlfriend that won't give you one and constantly flirts with everyone else while you pay all the bills. Now to me the car is just a white whale that sits in the garage. I even took the wifes ZETEC Focus out in preference to it yesterday. I've got a lot of O/S travel between now and March so it can gather some more dust in the garage and I'll figure out what to do with when I come home. The whole experience has been a damn shame. Everytime I drive the thing now I'm looking, listening or waiting for the next issue to appear or to happen. I noticed as I glanced across the front of it yesterday that the verticle edge along the top of the grille sits even on the LH Side and slowly expands out to about half a cm by the time it gets to the LH side so the front bumper is actually crooked, this is caused by incorrectly drilled holes in the front panel that holds the bumper on. I just had to laugh. The finish and the build quality of this thing is on a par with a mid 80s LADA. I'm over it and over FPV. IMHO Flinty and Polites got Ford back, and all the clowns since have ruined their good work.

The internal quality ratings are massively improved, especially in terms of panel alignment thanks to the new one piece side stamping.

I had the car two weeks lost 10g in trade in. never could get over it. no matter how hard I tried. so I,m hearing you. I,ll agree with venom, I,v got the fg f6, man chalk and cheese, had the bf,s. don,t order the next one, get it of the floor, and go over it with a tooth comb.you won,t find another car that puts a smile on your face like a modded turbo. good luck.go take a fg for a hot lap. shoot the white elephant.
