I was laying in misery in the home straight of getting over the Swine Flu when my freindly ford dealer calls to tell me that after a 4 and a bit week wait for Light Argent R Spec rims which were on backorder and leaving the car at the dealer for 10 days it is supposedly all fixed up and as good as new and I can come and pick it up.

With 26 returns in a well cared for, rarely driven hard, 20000klm - for Q/C and build issues, my threat of legal action resulted in the following.

Replace 4 rims, they began to corrode in the clear

Remove dash to get rid of a clunk in the passenger side

Replace D/Side door rubber and body rubber, to stop an annoying phhht phhht phhhht noise

Replace D/S B Pillar plastic cover behind the seatbelt, it never had the lower clips put in and was flapping around

Replace the rear bumper insert, it had buckled itself

Replace RH engine mount, knackered

Remove the back window and weld repair a seam at the back of the parcel tray

and a few other bits and bobs.

I hope its been worth the wait. The cars never given me any mechanical issues at all, but I reckon it was wacked togeather by a new australian with a rubber mallet at about 4.30 on a friday afternoon. It kills the ownership experience a bit. Tomorrow will tell.

Are you that naive to think that all items will have been corrected and repaired adequately. Expect nothing tomorrow and you will not be disappointed.

I know Arronm, if it isn't right this time I won't be taking it back and it will all just remain with the legals. They have been made well and truely aware of this and I'm at a point with the thing where I just don't really care any more, life is less stressful when its in for repair work because I don't have to look at it and seeth about what a dog the thing is. I have a horrid suspicion that the rear insert isn't going to fit into the bumper properly like others have experienced. Its lucky for me I travel a lot otherwise according to my records I would have had no car for 20% of the time. Its a shame because I was swaying towards a series 2 F6. It will be an interesting day.

Well the verdict is good news and its all done as promised, even the bumper insert fits. The only issue it had was when I drove away the cross bar on the steering wheel was down to the left about 2cm :w00t2: , a quik u turn and 20 mins later it was all as good as new so I guess I have to be happy about that. :buttrock: I just hope this is the end of it.

Doc, you dont think the engine mount was rooted because of the extra torque you are running do you?

Mate I am one of these self confessed silly old rev heads who just like to know its there and every now and then during a brave moment embarrass a HSV or in the middle of nowhere I wind it up for a couple of minutes then drop back to Police acceptable limits on cruise. I got 20000 klm out of the rear tyres and they still had a mil to the limit bars. I think I've spun it up twice and not on purpose. Maybe the dyno runs did it. Anyway all is good now :3gears:

Its a nice feeling to get it back all running properly and as it should have been built hey.

I finally got everything sorted in my sh*tbox yesterday after 13 (I think) trips to the dealer since I bought it in March. New auto, new turbo, plastics respray and missing bolts being the major issues... The driving experience has improved 100% since I bought it, its a changed car.

Now all that's needed is for Ford to sit up and notice and fix these issues in their build quality and warranty. Based on what people like ourselves have experienced, if your not a dead set Ford fan, you'd never buy one again!
