Not uncommon for the car to go into limp mode and be perfectly OK after restarting it. Could be a 'code'.Like does it flash 3 times, stops for 2 seconds, then flashes 3 times again, stops, etc etc. Till its solid. Or is it just a constant flash. These things are common for breaking a wire at the connector near the PCM and cause the D to flash and tiptronic not to work. Its a yellow wire with a black trace from memory. Its the large connector that clips onto the PCM bracket and the wire breaks on the engine side of the connector right at the plug. Hard to explain where it is but mention it to the trans bloke if they cant find anything else.
