Only problem is, Ford don't retune to suit, so you end up with something that's not as powerful and uses more fuel.FG engines will not work in BF's due to the new intake, intercooler piping etc. Its not designed for all that stuff. FG engines were only ever fitted to FG's, unless they were mules, and all the new stuff is custom fabricated to fit, but they don't get sold to the public, they are crushed.Your right that sometimes parts do get interchanged between models but that only applies when the changes are minor, like the FG blocks fitted to late BF II Falcons and currently in Territory and BF III Wagon. The changes are so minor it doesn't make any sort of difference, it just has provision for the rear mounted dipstick tube and a bit more clearance around the starter motor. To put it simply here is what happens out here and in a lot of places I've been where there is more money than brains driving down the street.Lease car, needs 20/30/40/50 thousand k's a year to keep in line with lease arrangements. Insurance, servicing, tyres, repairs, rego and fuel paid for in the lease arrangement. In 18months 2 or 3 years you hand the keys back and sign up again. The people who look after their car private sale it for a profit on the balloon payment (payment required at the end of the lease term) and buy put the money towards their next car start a new lease and do it all over again maintaing a tax free profit from sale...Other people see it as 20/30/40/50 thousand k's a year of supplied tyres, fuel, rego, and insurance allowing them to flog a sub $60000 car that if it goes BANG the lease company will fix or repair. Some people look after their cars on a lease, and these people tend to private sale their car as it's worth more to them as a private sale then it is to hand back, especially if they have put their own time, care, and money into the vehicle.Just my view on the situation, I almost bought an ex chaser, but settled for a $22000 Bf1 with a nice set of 20's and sub 65000 k's on it and a good service history, immaculate paint, and an owner looking to upgrade cos his missus was preggas with their 4th kid. I put $4000 into it and am reliably putting out good numbers. That extra $4000 would have only got me the car if I was to get the chaser.

I bet all the guys that bag ex-cop cars, have never owned one. I did change the oil feed line as a precaution and not because there was something wrong with it. oh and I forgot to mention that I've been running it on 340+ rwkw for two years now and it has never skipped a beat. all I can say is give it a good check by your own mechanic and you'll be right. I have been offered a good changeover for my car and have put a deposit down to hold the car till I can inspect it, and they can inspect mine. Can anyone give me any advice on what too look for in this car, like common issues etc. I am pretty sure the dealer is going to tell me I did not describe mine accurately and he wants more money etc, but im ready for those games. I just need some advice on making sure the Falcon is everything I want it to be.BFmkii 2008, 90k kms, auto, stripes, XR8 bonnet, 5 year dealer warranty. Also has 20 inch rims, but I asked him to put the stock ones back on, I dont want the extra cost for the tires. Member 753 Member For: 15y 8m 24d Gender: Male Posted 20/10/09 11:19 PM Share Posted 20/10/09 11:19 PM Being that its got the v8 bonnet, ugly stripes, and 20s, you can bet that it was modified under the hood at some point as well, may have just had a flash tune or it may have been alot more, just returned to stock. The problem with second hand cars from dealers is that you never really know the history of the car. I like buying mine privately so I can meet the previous owner, suss him out, ask a billion questions and be sure I'm getting a babied example. I understand you need to buy from a dealer, so my advice is that you keep looking. There are hundreds to choose from around the country, and there are some really nice and immaculate examples out there. The worst thing you can do is limit your scope to your location. My purchase was a 4000km round trip. I loved the long drive home!!! Plenty of time to get to know the car...
