A few months ago a Mercedes E Class left us stranded, and more recently Porsche's Cayenne left us 100 metres shy of a petrol pump while the trip computer insisted there was 60 kilometres worth of fuel left in the tank. We're also hearing of owners who have had problems with their cars -- and some tow-truck drivers say it is common -- including some in the early batch of BA Falcons. So if you've experienced problems with faulty fuel gauges, drop us a line to tell us about it at: drive@theage.com.au, write to Drive, PO Box 257C, City Mail Processing Centre, Victoria, 8001 or fax us on (03) 9601 3137. Personally I have not gone lower than 4kms myself. Just not that game, especially now, more economical if I drive her normally, plant the foot and watch the fuel guage go down...I love it:gasthrower: :biggun: :biggun: Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/6263-fuel-guage-problems/#findComment-50934 Share on other sites

faygun Member 389 Member For: 21y 9m 13d Gender: Male Location: Sydney Posted 17/09/03 02:35 PM Share Posted 17/09/03 02:35 PM I had 39km left on range and the tank only took 56 litres. Surely I couldnt have had 12 litres left in the tank. And this was 39km left till empty on highway driving. Not really sure what to call it.Mind you that's town driving as well. seems awfully wuick to be heading to the Shell to fill up. only get 400 out of the tank before it's screaming for more. And still with over 12 litres in the tank... that is if it is indeed a 68 litre tank. Not to say that it's a bad thing though, stops me from putting all the sh*t in the bottom of the tank through the motor. I was driving along normally and the DTE went from 120 to 81 in the space of 100 or so metres.
