just interested what happened to the nizpro springs have problems myself.

Have you called Nizpro? You may just have one of the water damaged sets. You know, one of the sets that fell off the slow boat :)

There has been a steady wave of people reporting low km failures with the Nizpro valve springs. They seem to have a higher than normal failure rate by what people are reporting. Nizpro have explained this by stating they had a batch of water damaged units but there continues to be reports of failures. Nizpro state on their website that these springs will handle 800kw and Simon has stated they should last 80,000km. If you suspect failure with less than 800kw and 80,000km, I'd be giving them a call and offering them the chance to sought it out.

Look, you will likely have no problems with the Nizpro valve springs. But from peoples own experiences it seems the chances of failure rate is higher than either Crow or Atomic which are also popular. I have yet to hear of any low km failures from either of those brands.

I notice Rapid are providing springs so maybe give Chris a call to discuss an alternative.

The springs can be done at home, but I would suggest it if you have limited mechanically know how.

As a light/heavy vehicle mechanic (done both), Id say give it to someone with the gear.

Did my mates BA and it was an all nighter. We tried 2 different proper tools and ended up making a ally bridge and two levers. Mind you this was after a collet fell down the timing case, house!!!

I get occassional valve float usually when I give it on an open freeway and the engine isn't as heavily under load. I have personally tested them on the bench using a valve spring compression tester against Atomic springs. The Atomic springs have about 10psi more seating pressure and are a proper conical type spring like the originals and not something out of a V8 that simply happens to fit. I have lost faith in Nizpro springs and the number of reports on here speak for themselves. Buyer beware.

I paid to get it done after considering buying the tool from atomic and doing it myself. If you drop a retainer (which is easy to do) you will wish you had paid someone to do it for you. It is a world of pain. My springs were $387.00 including freight from Atomic. BPS fitted them for $440, they also fixed boost leak, tidied up some mess in my engine bay and gave it a run on the dyno. Awesome service.

I'll let you in on a little secret. They both perform as well as each other. You will not find any difference in the way those two brands perform :)
