Not too sure - although I believe (and someone will correct me if I'm wrong) it won't be a 19" full size spare, I think it's only a 17". I know that makes little to no sense, but I'm sure someone told me that.

If you go with the full size spare it will chop quite a bit out of your boot space. I was going to get it but then my old man of all people convinced me not to - "when was the last time you used your spare" he said. Good point. And if I ever did need to use it, I'd get it replaced pretty quickly anyway. So now I have a proper sized boot.

Well on the Ford website here it says that it's a "matching spare wheel" and that the "spare wheel matches road wheels". I dunno where I got the $250 from though :) I'm pretty sure it's correct though?

So hmm... if it does chop a fair bit of boot space off, it may not be worth it. Do you know exactly how much? I have seen a couple of different boot floors in pics - one with a raised section and with an indented section so I'm presuming it's whether or not they've opted for a fullsize spare. So is the space saver spare limited to 80km/h though?

I'm pretty sure you're right re the $250.

The one with the indented section has the space saver, fullsize gives you a flat boot.

As well as giving more room, the indented bit is good for shopping etc

Hmm OK, something to think about then :)

Also was thinking about whether to get beige or black leather... what's everyone's opinions there? I'm thinking black simply because it's easier to keep clean and kind of looks more "sporty", but I think the beige looks more luxurious, if you know what I mean?

Also has anyone got the satnav? Is it easy to use? How's the traffic functionality? That was another option I definitely wanted!

The only sections I was read/looking for in the owners manual were the bluetooth as I was having problems with it and "locking fuel lid" (which doesn't exist!).

I used the space saver spare once already since new (nearly 1yr now) and I did go over 80k/h to test it. Was quite stable but wouldn't recommend running it constantly over 80.

If you have kids then definitely black leather.

LOL, I only read the manuals for the fun of it, it's just one of those things :) I doubt I'll actually *need* it to work out anything, perhaps other than the Bluetooth as you said.

Kids? A little early for that... But black still looks cool!

Haha, has this got something to do with the hmmm... how should I put it nicely.... Ford's targeted age group of this car? :pinch:

I'm 28... simply after something relatively cheap (too expensive brand new!), comfortable, practical, and most importantly... FAST (at least in a straight line)!! Coming from a Supra and a Skyline, the Supra being decently modified (260rwkw) so it's kinda hard to take a step "backwards" into something slower... but that Herrod G6ET in the latest MOTOR mag running a 4.3 sec to 100km/h and a 12.3 sec quarter mile got me thinking hard!

Was originally looking at a 2006 Saab 9-3 Aero Sport (2.8L turbo V6) with an ECU reflash but it's FWD and not *that* quick - I'd say a 14.0 sec quarter with the ECU flash.

For anyone who's seen a Supra's hatch, it's almost useless - as are the back seats. The clutch in mine is a twin-plate which is like an on/off switch and rattles like hell. It's also my first manual so learning on that was a "fun" experience (3 months before I could take it in traffic)... and the Skyline being an auto is great for an everyday car but it's still a coupe. I need to be able to put long things in the boot (like an 88-note musical keyboard), plus guitar amps, cases, and the odd person or two in the back... :) So the G6ET seems like the perfect thing for the job!

I'm yet to have to cart my bass and bass amp around but I won't be doing it in the G6ET unless I have a nice think blanket down first. Wouldn't want to go ripping the leather now, or even scratching it.

Actually the amp is quite big (well the cab anyway, 4 x 12"), it JUST used to fit in the back door of my VX Berlina.

And I'm 28 as well

Haha, another 28 yo! Who said this car was meant for old farts? :beerchug:

It's actually my brother's guitar amp that will be going in there, only a 2 x 12" so it'll be a snap compared to yours! And there will definitely be a blanket under it... actually it'll probably fit in the boot! Assuming I don't get the fullsize spare... :roflmbo:

You young whippersnappers will give us a bad name with all that talk of carting amps around. The only thing that should be going in your boot/back seat is a walking frame and a set of bowls FFS :beerchug:
