Basic oem shocks are past thier time in twelve months. At least you can easily rebuild you coil overs, even have them reshimmed to your liking. Life expectancy is better than basic, but it's really up to what they have to do and the abuse they have to take to say how long they will last.

I do my bikes suspenders every year.

And I would post a pic but I have tried and just cant. I will set up an msn link

You will definitely not regret it. I have the performance Teins on my BA an love them. I'm fairly sure they are the "firmest" kit available off the shelf and while they are firm and inspire confidence, the quality and setup of the dampers is top-notch so they still retain an excellent ride. And then you have height and dampening adjustability so you cant go wrong. I was defected for being too low even though I had my ride height set to 105mm (bit of settle, passeneger in back, full tank of fuel). No problems. Go home and raise the rear, down to VR, cleared in five mins, back home and dropped it again. Remember if it only saves you once a year, it's a good year :)
