A few question for the people who went to the Sydney dyno day. :blink:

What sort of modifications were done to the C&V car.

Whatelse was learned about differnet mods and what guys are doing with their cars. :unsure:

Look forward to hearing all that was learned as nodoubt does everyone else that wasn't there. :thumbsup:

The blood orange XR6T had a the APS phase II kit. Check it out at APS's website for specifics.

Punched out 269 rwkw with only 400km on the clock, without raising a sweat. VERY impressive.

Exhaust looked very tidy too, up on the hoist.

Nice work Con. :birthdaywish:

Yes Con's Car the Blood Orange XR6T had the APS Phase II Kit, was still waiting to get the fuel pump installed and the air cooling. Extremely impressive.. loved the rims too! :thumbsup:

I think the APS day really opened up the eyes of our members to show that the APS kit and company is reputable and they mean what they say. It was extremely helpful for David to go into details about even EPA outputs and Emissions testing.

Thanks again!

My understanding was the following:

* exhaust system.

* factory cat had the guts punched out of it! (ie. no cat!)

* turbo timer installed.

I don't believe there was any interceptor chip installed, eg. Unichip or Xede etc.

David Inall and Con of C&V Performance did make a point of saying that whatever the mods made to that particular HgAg XR6T, was a case in point of what not to do!!!

Apparently the car was running very lean, experiencing detonation (which Con was attempting to remove), thefuel pump & injectors were unable to supply the fuel the boost was demanding, etc, etc.

David Inall concluded by saying that the engine was very much at risk....The owner of the vehicle, a Ford employee of some description, stated that he really wasn't too worried about destroying the motor!

Bugger me!

Re the C&V Blood Orange rocket....

The Unichip Stage II install takes just over a full day, with pre-mod dyno run, cool-down, exhaust replacement, cold-air intake, new injectors, new fuel pump install, Unichip & loom install, post-mod dyno tuning & runs.

The new high volume fuel pump is installed in addition to the stock unit. The stock pump, mounted in the fuel tank, then acts as a lift/supply pump only. The stock unit apparently does have the capacity to service the stage II system when near new, but it's performance degrades with time/age/kms. So, to ensure sufficient fuel supply that the kit needs, a new high volume pump is installed to ensure that no detonation problems manifest themselves in years to come. A wee bit of over engineering or conservatism on APS's part, but one that ensures customer satisfaction in the long term.

The new injectors are a custom job from Bosche, who also supply the Ford originals and apparently the majority of all injectors world wide. These take a bit of time to replace, as all the intake air pipwork & intake manifold need to be removed.

Similar story re time for the Unichip & loom install. Following several close inpections of the C&V blood orange chariot, I couldn't detect any non-standard wiring or any thing out of place in the 'wiring' sense, that would raise a red flag to a Ford technician/service manager (& boy, didn't the latter cop a flogging at the hands of APS's David Inall!)

The only obvious non-standard things are the exhaust & the cold air intake. Both are engineered to waht I would call the highest of high standards....

The exhaust is the best bit of stainless steel work I've ever seen. Fully TIG welded, and welded by someone who obviously realy knows how to lay a beautiful seam of molten metal....& stainless is the hardest of steels to weld in!

The cold air intake looks factory quality, & I'm refering to Mercedes rather than Ford! The only thing is the "APS" logo embelished on it's surface will sound the warning sirens to Ford service employees.

Oh yeah, The C&V blood orange 400km old XR6T didn't yet have the new high volume fuel pump installed (they ran out of time in preparing the car for Saturday's dyno & APS tech session).

The APS kit fitted at C&V also runs a K&N filter panel. At least that's what I think I remember Con saying!?!

The exhaust would be the BIG giveaway. Once they saw that they would go digging.

Nice work APS.

Thanx for putting on the day Con!!

Congrats to Ivan with a nicely loosened SSS T that pumped out 198 on the dyno.

By the way the most interesting part for me was David addressing the durability issues. On Phase 2, he seemed confident about the durability of everything including the manual box and the engine internals.

The only things he has seen break are 2 clutches on a dragstrip with the car equipped with slicks.
