Just got my Car Insurance Renewal for my T.

Went up 46.5% !!

Must be Global Warming or Climate Change.

Rang and got up them. Took off 10%. :-)

They gave you 10% off?

what the?

U mean 10% off last years charge? or 10% off making the increase 36.5%?

Id be looking for another insurance company if its still a 35% + hike!

Thanks BS!!!

Theres usually a reason if theres a big jump like that

eg - car gets older

- driver gets older or into a different risk group

- Alot of idiots crash or steal that model car in the previous 12 months

- at fault claims

- not at fault claims

- were you live

- fuel costs

- labour costs /cpi changes

- transport costs

- availability of accident repair parts

+ about a million other factors that can influence it

so did you renew with them or shop around?

aza - mate any or all of those factors dont amount to a near 40% increase in premium...

unless the driver has near written off the car 50 times in the past 12 months or something crazy like that, I have never heard of such a jump! (50 times would prob receive a fark off letter rather then a renewal but yeah)....

40% is crazy stuff!

Had a similar experience... Been with the same insurance company for the last 22 years and 2 cars for atleast 10 of those years. My 2003 BA Turbo was approx. $1100 - $1250 as the years went by.

Asked for a quote for my new FG Turbo and got a quote for a ridiculous $2950. Same as above, queried it and was offered an additional 10% discount as I was SUCH A GOOD CUSTOMER???

Shopped around and found 3 other insurers willing to do the deal for between $1200 and $1300 for the same excess...

Lets just say they lost a customer that had been loyal for 22 years and probably spent over $40k with them over that period!!!
