hi,

I was wondering if the xr6 turbo motors and gearbox fit straight into the xr6's as I have a 2003 ba xr6 sedan and want to convert it to a turbo. im on p-plates so I cant just go out and buy a turbo or else I would have done that already..

any help would be great

cheers

Hi there, they are a direct replacement but you will need to take it to ford to get the two computers to talk to each other and become friends... I have done 5 conversions to date, where are you located...

I am happy to help

Isn't it better to wait until you are done with the P-plates?

The idea behind the law may seem silly but it is meant to help to 'learn to walk before you can run'.

Sorry I'm not trying to be rude, but I had quite a few near miss accidents when I was 18 to 20'ish.

My whole point was if you crash with a P-plates and a turbo car then I'm not sure if the insurance will pay out, and you are stuffed, BIG TIME.

regards Gsimon

:3gears:

You're stuffed either way,

You realise you need a mod plate to do this modification to your car? If you run it without a mod plate, it won't be covered under insurance and you'll get a whopping fine, possibly have your car taken off the road, you'll lose your license for driving a car that is turbo charged, and for driving a car that has a modification done to it that makes its engine output over 200kw - these are two seperate rules, the latter is not mentioned often.

If you do get it mod plated, you'll drive out of the department of transport after having it inspected, the police will pull you over straight away and then you'll lose your license.

It's much much better waiting man, I know how you feel with all these other guys driving around with turbo's, but your best saving your cash up and driving a nice car for the rest of your p's, then going in and getting a fg xr6t (or a bf typhooon) and having fun with that.
