Driverside bodykit has been touched up so needs sanding and respray5. driverside rear quaterpanel above the wheel has a crack in the filler so the paint has cracked needs filling and spray.6. rear bumper marked by a trailer so needs respray7. rear bottom bumper cracked in the corner (my fault came off a kerb to fast with the trailer and caught it)8. passenger side has a stone chip in the door.9.And that's it f*ckers :) any help would be much appreciated I just dont have the time to take it to a panel shop atm and I also dont want them ripping me off . I live in the joondalup area of perth and its a vixen 05 xr6 Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/61919-think-ive-bought-a-dud/ Share on other sites

Posted 24/09/09 10:03 AM Share Posted 24/09/09 10:03 AM (edited) Ive had plenty of panel shop experience recently. Had a doppy bitch open her door onto the rear of the tub her insurance picked up the bill, warranty work on the same tub panels, again repainted for dodgy mudflaps. Also some bumper and gaurd work touched up after skippy had a death wish. What ive seen, is that the money is all in the remove/refit portion of quotes. Panels seem to be around $200-$300 to paint if your after guarantied work, although cash in hand/off the books jobs will cost you that all up. I think your up for a lot of hard earned green for all the work. Doesnt mean the car has been in an accident, maybe the owners just didnt give a sh*t about their car. As for the paint and panel see if someone independent will do it off the books over a weekend or 2 or 3, and get your spare parts from someone like FTG auto salvage. If it is as bad as you say then you're probably up for a minimum of about 3-5k to do a full respray depending on which panel shop you choose. You can do the individual panels but you still need to blend and clear into the other panels next to the repairs, so you might as well hit the whole car if there are bits and pieces all around. Be careful of shops that will tell you 2k for a respray, you'll end up getting what you pay for. However if you choose this road be aware that the car will never end up as they are from factory. There aren't many cars that have been sprayed that you can't pick the difference in the peel and finish. Very rare to find someone these days that actually takes pride in spray painting.
