Thinking of heading out to willowbank to see what kind of time I can put down in my fg xr6t. Has been tuned with 275 rwkw but suffers badly from heat soak atm with stock intercooler. Normally I have to cruise around at light throttle for several minutes to cool it down enough to get any decent power. Was thinking about letting it rest for a half hour or so when I get there to cool it down but worried about giving it the nuts if engine temp is not high enough.

Is there enough heat in the engine after an hour or so to prevent damaging anything? Or will giving it heaps of revs before I take off clear out the hot air from the cooler? I am new to turbo cars and any advice would be appreciated. I must beat my mates ss ute no matter what and dont want to lose races cos my car isnt making power from the heat

I wouldnt worrie to much about heat soak I was running 305 on a bf and it gets plenty of time to cool between runs just lift ya bonnet to help it out. you will have your car idiling for a bit in the staging lanes and for the burnout. I usually start my car wen I am next to race. with 275 rwkw u wil eat his ss here is a good exsample my missus has a hsv r8 custom tune full exshaust and a cai setup and its only 260 rwkw. unless he has one alot of work u will eat him.
