Buying New Fg Interstate - Few Questions

Howdy Gents,

Im in the market to buy an FG, but I need some help with the purchase. I know there is a lot of pricing threads and I have read them so im not going to ask for whats the best price blah blah...but prices here in NSW seem to be 10-12k more then what some of you guys are getting them interstate. In one thread one of you guys mentioned 43k,44k driveaway Brand new.

If I was to venture say to Vic, Sa or Qld picked one up brand new and drive it back to NSW to break her in what issues would I encounter? Have any of you guys done this before? how does the rego + stamp duty work if I do this?

I cant seem to get any of the dealers here to budge under 50k with a few extras. Can anyone send me to a "connection" or a dealer in NSW who is flexible and not so greedy so I wont have to go interstate?

FG What?

Interstate dealer will take off the gov charges and give you a permit to drive to a rego office in your own state...pretty simple

Hi Kalto,

I did this for my brother a couple of years ago.

purchased a car in Melbourne (where I am) and drove it to S.A. where he is.

I purchased the car private, handed in the reg plates and purchased a fourteen day permit then once it was in S.A. my brother took the car in to the reg office, payed the stamp duty and twelve months reg.

When I was in the car trade it was quite common for people to buy WRX turbo's from us and drive then interstate on permits. Once they got home they would have the car inspected, pay the applicable stamp duty and registration fee. Very easy process.

Yeah, easy as. I bought a new G6ET in late June from Melbourne as I could get it at about 20% off list through a special Ford promotion that has now expired. Simply made some phone calls, picked a colour, did all the paperwork via emails (god bless the interweb), flew down from Canberra, picked it up then did some low-level flying back home! The drive was easy but dull, no problems with the car at all. Worst thing was the pouring rain dirtied up my baby! Had a one week VicRoads permit but I rego'd it in Canberra the next day anyhow.

Only things to be aware of are 1) your insurer or bank may question the lack of a rego number prior to picking it up, not such a problem if you have personalised plates that you are transferring; and 2) you may have to have a rego inspection done once you get to your home State (yes that happened here in the ACT, even though I had a June 09 build car sold new on 30 June and wanted to register it on 1 July I had to officially prove it was "roadworthy"... truly the home of the public circus.

So yeah, go get some quotes interstate (Andrew at Etheridge Ford is HIGHLY recommended), then spend a couple of hundred on a plane ticket and a tank of fuel to save thousands!

I have financed cars in Perth that have been delivered to Queensland and recently arranged the finance for a new G6ET that was purchased over east and delivered to WA.

one question? How did you know hills was closing down? how can I find out which ford is closing down so I can pick up a bargain rather then going interstate if I can get one...

Loved your story man, I wish I could do the same, how exciting that experience would of been. Im going to try and see what Andrew can do for me....Thanks for that tip. that's what I want to know, who to see and where so I can organise some prices before I rub it in the face of the NSw dealers who keep chasing me to buy one off them for 10k more...lol.
