How about something like an Autronic piggy back style. It will handle boost, spark, afr, timing etc and factory ecu can remain untouched. I don't know how far you could go in this setup without touching anything on the factory ecu. Perhaps a tuner could comment. Would be an expensive option though.

There are a million threads on it (give or take maybe 1 or 2) - you can flash the tune back if you like but Ford can still tell that it's been flashed and will void the warranty.

Im not entirely sure with the FG as I don't work there anymore, but the with the ba-bf the factory PCM would log a p1085 and another code, I cant remember the exact number, but each of the codes indicate a separate fault, and the only evidence that ford could have was that both codes would occur after a flash tune, this COULD and HAS been contested in that it was said that at some stage or another a fault relating to those two codes had occured, but at the time of test, was ok. This is assuming all other modded componets that are visible had been removed, I assume the fg would possibly be a similar scenario. But if you still have the bug, atleast be prepared for the consequences.

What about a panel filter along with a V8 airbox mod? Filter should not have any influence..should it?

Technically, I am sure if they wanted to they could kick up a stink if something went wrong. Turbocharged systems change greatly with different intake characteristics.

Yeah interesting idea. Only thing is the install would have to be completely hidden. I am not not sure what they consist of?

Something like a unichip would be interesting where it intercepts the fuel and spark signals being sent to the engine from the ecu and modifies them. Surely the stock ecu couldnt tell anything from that. You would have to do a really good job of the install so everything is hidden.

I just thought this would be an interesting discussion as I am sure there are many people with FG's thinking hmmm to mod or not to mod...

I had my old BA flashed with a tuner... fried the clutch, flash it back to stock and took it in... they replaced the clutch AND the gearbox, no questions asked!

Having said that, I had the centre muffler removed and I was told by the same service manager that if I didn't return it to stock and come back and show him he would void my drivetrain warranty!

So, I donno...

This has been a biggy for a while......

Above is some of the reason we pay so much for servicing and it is officially fraud and I probably wouldn't be stating this sort of stuff on this forum as a tip

I'd be pretty sure that the amount of money Ford have lost from people doing the above, makes it pretty certain they have covered off on the FG for any tampering what so ever.
