Ah…ok, so not safe in that sense….yeah I’ve heard that comment too, the one in regards to the rods and if you power in excess of 340rwkw you need to look at beefing up the bottom end. I’ve looked into it and the kits which Atomic offer seem to cater for this weakness.

Like you mentioned earlier, I think throwing a rod really depends on how you drive the car and since you drive it pretty sensibly, like us, I think you’re safe.

Same mate, I change my oil every 5000km’s or 6 months, depending on which comes first….don’t care about the cost, rather spend some extra $$$ and know the turbo is running well.

So pretty much like any other tune shop, just when you make an upgrade and or downgrade another tune is required..

Thanks mate, I’ve never really been in a rush to get stuff done, well only before moving up to Tindal from Newcastle with the RAAF. Had a mechanic down there, a young guy, who mainly worked on fords but specialised in XR6 Turbo’s…he was awesome! Got a heap of stuff down before moving up to make sure it was done right.

Your thoughts are very similar to mine, built for the track but also drivable on the roads. To be honest, if you pump money into a car to which you intend on holding on for a while….it’s not really wasted money. If you plan to only keep the car for a couple of years I can see how the thought of wasted money would come into the equation. I don’t plan on getting rid of the turbo at all, so all the money that goes into it is money well spent in my point of view…obviously money needs to be spent wise, otherwise that would be a waste of money.

Yep big brakes would be great….like you, money is the problem but an overseas deployment is looking good soon, so some of wish list items might infact become reality.

Do you have any other pics of your car?
