DEAD Stock. When I bought my T it had about 60,000kms in it. Have now just completed 70,000kms. When I bought it, it had NO diff whine under any situation. Was great thought I got a good one.Now the whine has started. But I am concerned. Drive about 200kms yesterday and it got pretty bad within just those 200kms. Now it u back off in 3rd when in low rpm it REALLY whines. Puts a whole vibration through the car.I just feel it is like the normal diff whine. Any suggestions?CheersMatt

Got mine re-built at Driveline (Mackay) they are Aus wide for $990, took them 4.5 hours to do the hole job. They put beefed up parts all the way through and balanced ect. Have not had any problems with the diff but one of the stubs come 3/4 out of the diff housing today so the ass end is heading down to Mackay for it to be fixed and we are bracing the stubs to the diff. seduced Need more power. Now taking donations. Member 753 Member For: 16y 1d Gender: Male Posted 29/11/09 11:20 PM Share Posted 29/11/09 11:20 PM Ford will argue with you about replacing it. I've already had a new one in, and the new one is as noisy as the old. I complained again and was told that they could put 20 new diffs in before I get one that's slightly quieter. And most of the new ones would be noisier!Apparently you just suck it up and get used to it. I'm now in the process of sound deadening my car to fix the whole issue. I am picky though...But I hadn't thought about having it rebuilt?

Matt_971 Member 41 Member For: 16y 9m 17d Posted 17/04/10 12:07 PM Author Share Posted 17/04/10 12:07 PM well I dragged this up from a while ago but thought I should update everyone on what happened.Well I was under car to check it out and oil was all over back of car. Pulled drain plug and was plenty of oil in diff still.Anyways went to turn tail shaft and it moved. The yoke in the diff moved around quite a bit and hence the oil leaking out. After pulling tail shaft out to check I found the pinion nut VERY loose. Almost off. SOOO out come the diff. Was lucky the diff didnt grab and lock itself. After finding pinion that loose thought I better put new bearings throughout. Done that new seals etc and she is back in and running a dream.SOO anyone having this issue with whinning CHECK PINION ASAP.I was lucky I caught it when I did. I think if I drove it anymore at all I would of blown diff.It did actually grab as I was driving the car into shed. Just as I rolled back it jammed. So VERY VERY lucky.Gears didnt sustain ANY damage at all soo was wrapped. Diff is back together and running fine. New diff bush was put in too.So VERY VERY lucky here.CheersMatt
