Whammo! totalled the Datsun 240K (dont laugh). I walked away uninjured, but a second earlier or later and I would have been dead for sure. Slowed me down though...driving 19 years and not one ticket so far Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/6161-craziness/#findComment-50318 Share on other sites
aniken I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it Donating Members 4,316 Member For: 22y 5m 9d Gender: Male Location: Sydney, south west Posted 14/09/03 12:26 AM Share Posted 14/09/03 12:26 AM Traffic lights, two lanes, big delays in cars turning right and me in big hurry coz I'm late for a soccer game. Don't know what I was thinking, but decide to gun it to get through before light turns red again (third phase waiting already, and I'll be buggered if I am waiting another) and then turn right from the left hand lane. Of course, the guygger in the right hand lane isn't turning right is he, and goes straight on as I attempt to turn across in front of him :nugget: . Minor damage, but major stupidity Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/6161-craziness/#findComment-50365 Share on other sites

Doing 80 (speed limit) through a tight rounabout. Guy in front of me (outside lane, my left) thought his Festiva would handle as well as my ute, and tried to keep ahead of me. We were both going straight through. Old mate loses the rear end of the Festi, it snaps to the right, and is now heading across my path. He panics and slams on his brakes, and gets a 4 wheel drift going. I snap the wheel to the right, induce a bit of oversteer, get myself parallel to his car, then snap back to the left just squeezing through the small gap I had left between the front of his car, and the centre median strip on the exit of the roundabout. Would have been an inch from running the front of his car down the left panels of the ute.I never once touched the brakes. Speed is your friend. Uncontrolled momentum under brakes is your enemy.I calmy drive on at the speed limit. He pulls up beside me at the lights up the road a few minutes later and I read his lips "Sorry man". He was white as a ghost. Probably had a stain on his seat too.Couple of close calls I just reacted and thought nothing of it. Plowed into the side of him, seat belt didn't work, broke windscreen with my head, then steering shaft break and the steering wheel comes up and smacks me in the Jaw knocking me into La La land.Remember kicking the door open and spitting chips of teeth and blood out onto the road, then woke up in the ambulance. Other guy didn't have a scratch on him, but at least I wrote off the bloody Camira (one less on the road).Spent the night in hospital with temp Amnesia, broken left wrist, fracured ribs, broken nose etc. Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/6161-craziness/#findComment-50574 Share on other sites

Guest Butzy Guests Posted 15/09/03 01:31 PM Share Posted 15/09/03 01:31 PM Gee guys they are some bad accidents, and lucky I havent been in any yet. (Well I only have my L's but still) I like the feel of going fast but really common sence will stop me from doing stuff that will problury do damage to me or someone else. My parents have really erged me to do a lot of driving lessons, which I was happy to go and do. I just hope it really helps me in the future. Falchoon I see red Member 5,758 Member For: 22y 5m 12d Location: nowhere in particular Posted 15/09/03 10:21 PM Share Posted 15/09/03 10:21 PM Worst accident I've had in a car was driving a mate's XY along an unfinished road that was still dirt and I decided to be clever and cool and do some fishtails, big overcorrection and I slammed into an embankment at about 70km/h. I thought the car was going to be totaled but all it needed was a new guard and bumper.I've had a few bad stacks on motorbikes, I gave them up before they gave me up. The worst was when I t-boned this little old lady in a Morris Minor who decided to do a u-turn in front of me with out looking, indicating and over over double lines. Admittedly I was speeding but what she di was very stupid and dangerous. I really thought this was it, I was going to the big house. I locked the bike up and slammed into her car sideways, don't know how my leg wasn't crushed. I don't remember the actual impact but I hit her car and went flying over the top and landed on the road. My...err..."man bits" creamed the metal fuel tank of the bike leaving a massive dent in it. Apart from that I just had some minor cuts and bruises. I remember lying o nthe road with heaps of people gathered around and some lunatic in an old HQ Expensive Daewoo came barrelling up the road and at the last minute skidded to a stop further creaming my already creamed motorbike. I'm convinced to this day that this is where the majority of the damage to the bike came from, (twisted frame & forks, buckled wheels) not the actual accident..
