Steering Vibration

hey guys just wondering if anyone could help me out.

been getting alot of "brake shudder" type thing through the steering at speeds over 90k's, but not actualli braking, its just the shudder thing I can feel.

ive had my rims re-rolled as 1 was buckled, that didnt fix anything

had the wheels balance and alignment done, that didnt fix anything.

so im wondering what else could be causing it.

any help appreciated.

if it at 90km if you go faster

does it go away if yes wheel balance

or try 2 other wheel on front

what did you hit to buckle your rim ? has the car been checked since then to make sure nothing else is bent

did you put the same sh*t tyre back on maybe your tyres out of round

maybe your wheel bearing is rooted that's what id be looking at

the tyres are dunlop sport maxx wateva they are, so I dont think they are too sh*t.

not sure why the rim was buckled, guessing pothole or 2 as no gutters have been hit or anything like that.

the wheel bearing has been changed twice now, both times on the front right.

wat would I be checking for to know if anything is bent in the steering or something.

A bucketload of options. My BA was doing similar things...shocking under brakes but still some shudder when not braking.

Brakes cured the shudder while braking but rebushing the entire front end and replacing left front wheel bearing was the cure for the remainder. The bushes were rooted...worse than I could have imagined from a car that is 4 years old and had done 80k.

Not sure what the deal was with the bearing in terms of cause though perhaps they are a weak point.

I have to wonder how much the dreaded brake shudder issues these are so well known for might actually impact on the longevity of front end bushes and bearings.

He wasn't referring to the brand of tyre fitted, just the fact that if it's the same tyre that was on when the rims were damaged then the tyre could be faulty. It takes a fair bit to buckle a factory rim (assuming that's what you've got) and you'd definately notice it happen and would more than likely blister/collapse the sidewall on the tyre....but hopefully the tyre shop would have picked up on that!

Hi,

I've had numerous steering vibration issues resolved by:-

1) New disc as one was worn more than the other and consequently weights were not even between the 2 wheels

2) Out of round -same as you

3) Latest- Worn front end ball joint at only 60,000km's and I'm a Canberra road driver- both replaced under warranty

If you are also getting vibration up through the car/seat/centre console/gear shift get number 3 & 1 checked if out of round has already been done,
