Push foot on the clutch and the sound goes away completely. I just had a stock clutch put back in (since I lice with a mechanic so I dont pay labour for this mucking around) and the sound is completely gone.Clutch is single plateAny light you can shed on this would be helpful. Doesn't sound very normal to me.

Probably got something to do with the instalation of the clutch (loose bolt?) or one of the small springs used to smooth take up it broken or loose... you can see the springs in the picture below..their are two ideas anyway. The lightened flywheels supplied with most aftermarket clutches are noiser than stock because the dont have the mass to absorb as much engine/gearbox noise/resonace, they are also machined into a "U" shape which IMHO turns them into a nice speaker for any noise generated.Luke

devo Member 64 Member For: 16y 9m 26d Posted 04/10/09 03:16 AM Author Share Posted 04/10/09 03:16 AM wow completely forgot I posted this here... its a Mal Wood stage 3+ clutch and flywheel. The throw out bearing was noisy to begin with before the clutch installed, it was replaced underwarrenty and I had my clutch installed at the same time, noise was worse, put a stock clutch and flywheel back in and noise it gone...The noise the clutch made is very loud, doesnt sound like anything you would consider "acceptable". Like sitting at lights I would put my foot on the clutch rather than not so my car doesnt sound like its about to rattle to pieces at the lights. Also taking off with minimal revs the noise gets REALLY loud.
