Was This Tuner Rude Or Is It Just Me?

G'day,

Some may have seen a recent topic of mine in regards to getting an XCAL2 from CAPA. Which I am very happy with.

Well today I rang up a tuning place to see if I can get it on the DYNO to check if everything was OK with the generic tunes. I was told by this tuning place that I had made the wrong decision and that I should sell my XCAL2 on ebay before I blow my motor!! He went further. He asked me why I wanted to have the car tuned and when I would actually use it!! Also, when would I ever want to use the valet, 8 and 10 psi tunes!

He also, quote "I can give you a power run and I am happy to take your money but I won't give you a report to say if it was safe or not!! It might be safe on one power run but I still won't give you a report"!!

Now, I can understand this guys reasoning for all of this. Why did he have to be so rude? So I rang up another tuner and they are happy to do it! This bloke has completely ruined my day and I now regret buying the tuner!!

I am not planning on racing the bloody thing. I am just a bloke who loves cars. I did my research before buying the XCAl2 and made the decision that at this point in time (car completely stock) the generic tunes were OK for me and then later down the track with other mods, I would get a custom tune. Let me, the customer, decide when, what, where, how and why I would use the tunes!! I won't be going there for a custom tune!!

ive read that c & v in taren point are very helpfull and enjoy what they do..

These is nothing wrong with the Xcal2, I use it and so do the majority of people on this site!

You need to find another Tuner, if the relationship starts bad it wont get better pleanty of good tuners out there if your in Sydney give Jim at Tunehouse a call.

that info is wrong and the guy is a douche to boot. Never go there and be sure to tell as many friends about him as possible to make sure no-one goes there!

cheers guys. I am in Melbourne. I won't name the tuner on this site for obvious reasons. However, I booked the car in with Horsepower Factory in Dandenong. The guy was really helpful on the phone.

I also rang CAPA and had a chat to them. They gave me some reassurance and also some contacts down here in Melbourne as well.

I just couldn't believe this guy. He tried to then sell me HP tuner stuff. Maybe he has something against SCT/CAPA stuff. Who knows.

More than likely he doesn't own the software to custom tune with and uses only the vct software.

Go elsewhere if that's his attitude!

yea I woudldn't be going to that guy, sounds like he hates his job. I got my tunes done at Pit Lane Performance in Frankston, was a bit of a drive for me but bloody worth it. Top customer service and a lot of knowledge down there. HPF have a very good name also, good luck with it all.

sounds like a farkwit......and he is tuning using HP Tuners, so cant do anything with your box. He could have at least run it on the dyno and looked at AFRs and Boost.....no need to be a carnt! I had a CAPA box and then gave it the arse when I changed tuners (my tuner uses HP Tuners)
