Hey all,

I noticed on HSV's website in the E2 area that they are claiming to be the first Australian production car with launch control, WRONG! As we know the FG manual XR6 Turbos are and have been equiped with launch control since their release. I tried to email HSV but I kept getting errors so I sent a message to Ford. They have responded and informed me that my email has been forwarded to the appropriate department for their attention and review, also acknowledging appreciation for drawing their attention to it.

I know Ford never really marketed or promoted the launch control feature at all really which they should have as it is a great feature and was ahead of the HSV / Expensive Daewoo technology.

Will be keen to see if HSV keep marketing their Launch Control system as an Australian first? Me thinks not!

I guess this is just my rant for the day but I hate companies that incorrectly market and advertise their products, and I'm sure HSV know the FG is equipped with launch control!

Cheers

HSV is gonna go bankrupt anyways with there new ugly model.. Even Expensive Daewoo themselves barred the design and they still went ahead with it

DODGY! Its funny though... to get launch control in a Expensive Daewoo you have to buy a HSV, yet ford have it in their base model performance car.

The new HSVs are seriously ugly... WHY when the rest of the world is looking to new sleeker, more attractive and knife-edge designs is HSV still in the 90s? All they do is add more plastic-fantastic parts to the exterior, add really crap wheel designs, and a heap of vents around the car that dont actually vent! I thought tri-spoke wheels died off with the early vs clubsport and GTS-Rs....

Dam I hate those vents that don't actually vent even if they look good. If I had a car with those as standard I think I'd go and make some holes so the dam things have some sort of functionality.

But back to the topic, fords launch control is not really a proper launch control (from what I have read, never actually drove one) it just allows you to have boost on take off at relatively small rpm, although very useful it's not something like you would get on let's say a Ferrari. Maybe HSV have developed (brought over from US) something a bit more sophisticated than that and thus thinking they have the first real Launch Control in Australia. I highly doubt it but it's a possibility, does anyone have details on how the HSV launch control works?

Watching the video on the HSV website, it looks identical. Hold down clutch and accelerator, the engine holds the rpm fairly low, in Fords case 3500rpm, release the clutch and away you go. The only thing better on the HSV is the noise, the car in the video sounds fantastic.

A lot of long terms HSV owners have some seriously twisted panties over at LS1

"HSVs version of the FPV Badger"roflmbo.gif

and the winner is

"OMFG!!!

Where did HSV go and what is this thing?

I will just KEEP my E1 thanks very much, no chance in hell of buying a new HSV if that's what it is?

My god its like HSV slept with every car and now this cross breed of sh*t has been born!

Its like a pontiac, audi, aurion, daewoo thing with a HSV badge!

FPV just became the best looking aussie performance built car for 2009/2010, good work "

"My god its like HSV slept with every car and now this cross breed of sh*t has been born!"

I love that part, it really has a lot of other cars on it,

Audi running lights,

Aurion rear bumper highlight,

Subaru fake vents on the side of the rear bumper,

Pontiac bonnet,

the lower part of the front bumper reminds me of the M3,

And not sure of all those wheels either, some are ok but some are definitely not.

HSV was always a little more on the radical side, lot more then FPV but I seriously think they have gone too far this time. There have also been few cars in the last few years that I didn't like at first but later get used to them and even quiet like them after a while but I don't think this will be one of those examples, it's just got too much of the plastic try hard stuff on.
