Just a heads up for anyone having vibration problems in the car and having problems locating the issue.

Despite numerous wheel alighnments balancing and everything else, after another 5,000 KM's trying to sort out why I have had this recurring vibration in the car, it was not not always apparent however was becoming more regular, I've had both front ball joints replaced under warranty.

Car has only 60,000 km's on the clock, consequently unsure why they would fail so quickly. Must have something to do with the speed in which I get through the roundabouts here in the ACT. Long and short of it ball joints replaced and no vibration, what a relief!

One clue was that on rare occasions backing out and steering at angles I would get a loud clunk from the front end, apart from that there was no other clue that the ball joints were failing. Apparently one was worse than the other but Ford voluntarily replaced both, thanks to McGraths at Woden.

It can be hit and miss with the factory ball joints - some last plenty of k's, others go earlier. Always a good idea to get a safety check whenever you have the car in for service or you are getting new tyres etc etc :stupid:
