eh,, well as the topic states (and it's more than likely that someone has done something like this before butt) I'm beginning an engine conversion into my 2000 Ford Courier 2WD ute.. I purchased a damaged '03 BA XR6T Ute this week and mates and I removed the engine last night, however I'm just wondering now whether it's possible to use the standard ECU/Wiring Loom and slightly customise it to suit the Courier or if anyone knows of people doing this. I know there are aftermarket options, butt I just figured seeing as I have the entire car there already that I'd check this out first.

and information would be good..

Cheers

Danny.

Sh*t you have bitten off some haven't you. In my experience we have had some NA to turbo upgrades and auto to manual ( and vice versa ) done by members.

The ECU controls so many parameters of the total vehicle and I'm not sure it can easily be mapped to suit , if at all.

That said I am not an expert , hopefully one of our resident technocrats can help further.

I am sure you will need some form of traction control howeveromg1.gif

hahaaa,, your not wrong!

yeahh that's one thing I realised about it, it's not just a straight forward setup which runs a few things,, it's wires going everywhere..

thanks for the reply though, and hopefully someone will have a yay nay answer and a direction to point me in so I can look into getting something lined up..

Cheers!

updates are at minimum! haven't found much info on ECU's.. At the moment I think I'll go for an Aftermarket option as I reckon it would be a large eff around trying to get the BA ECU to run happily.. butt I would love it if anyone can give me a direction, or even which ECU brand/ model I should be looking at..

Cheers!

you could do it. A vmc suite Hp tuners setup would be able to do it, in a nutshell you need to disable a few parameters and tell the pvm what it does and doesnt have and it should work.

Hi. get in touch with FTG auto salvage as they did a conversion to an earlier falcon and used the ba ecu, also herrods can rewrite the ecu to take out the security features the only thing is you need to buy a flash tuner. May need to fit speedo sender to back of gearbox as xr6t may have used abs sensors for speedo. Cheers MD

cheers for all the input, much appreciated!

I've fired off an email to FTG auto salvage, just to find out how they went about it and any details they can give me..

I'd like to go down this road if possible seeing as I've already got the ECU and looms.. And also, to run a flash tune would be great!

Ive done the conversion into my EB.

Its not that hard to do the wiring, before I put the BA dash into the car, I was just running a BF PCM with PATS removed and a custom loom and the flyby wire accelerator pedal.

Heres some pics anyway, also check out my build thread for more info
