SHOCK - no problem with posting documents up here unless they are 'commercial in confidence' or anything like that. What we won't allow though is slanderous discussion without any legal justification...we have to cover our arses in this day and age unfortunately.

No real point really, there ALL the same on pricing no matter which FORD dealer you go to.....

Put my 05 BF XR6T in for a service yesterday. It's been running fine except for a small drip (from the transmission apparently) and a recurring problem with the emissions light coming on.

Just got a call from them saying they've done the following:

60k service: $320

Additives: $18

Replaced transmission fluid: 8 litres @ $52/litre = $398(!!!!!!)

Added coolant: $76.78

Coolant Flush: $131

Cleaned throttle body: $85

Replaced rear discs and brakes: $627 parts, $185 labour

Total inc GST comes in at $2,600.

Have I just been totally f*cked?

I come up with $1840.78

Sounds like that particular dealer sucks. There are good dealers out there. One's that are actually honest and if there is a problem they call you with a fixed quote for whatever they've found.

Some are honest? Perhaps. They still have apprentices doing the work while some douche bag in a shirt/tie barks the orders out. Give me a local, trusted mechanic

where the employees respect each other... not one (like a dealer), which has an 'us vs them' mentality and the brand name 'Ford' to pull their business from unsuspecting car owners. This quote is appalling. I genuinely feel sorry for people who are not aware of the dealer servicing mistake. Hell, it's almost common knowledge. In pop culture it's the brunt of so many jokes, yet people continue to use them. Don't get it.

Not quite true. Different dealers charge different labour rates. Also OP got quoted/charged $207.78 for a Cooling system flush and refil, compared to my quote of $185.00.

60,000km service quotes

Titan Ford - $430.00, $365 with own oil and filter.

Centre Ford - $345.00, $260 with own oil and filter.

Took it to Centre Ford. Was also notified prior to any extra work done of the cost.

Breakdown of my invoice, I would scan it but I cbf (yes it probably takes more effort to type, I just cbf going to the scanner in the other room).

Labour - $211.56 (1.9 hours)

Oil Disposal - $10.80

Top Up Fluids - $4.50

Shop Supplies - $9.50

Invoice Total (inc GST) - $260.00

Quoted on optional repairs/parts

Brake Fluids - $85

Cooling System - $185

(Including Flushing of both systems)

Brake Pads + Disc Machining - $450 for Performance Pads, $395 for Standard Pads (lol.)

Broaders77, I feel for you mate. That's a hefty sum of coin to depart with.

I think this has always been a problem though when it comes to servicing cars. I'm not sure about the rest of you, but I have only ever owned older cars, and no matter what I bring the cars in for, there always seems to be something else to fix. Unfortunately, if your like me, and don't know a whole heap about the mechanics of the car, you just have to take the guys word for it. :(

I've just purchased a new FG XR6 Turbo. I will use Ford for the warrantee work, but after it's expired... I think I might need to track down a great mechanic in Brisbane somewhere.

I hope it runs like a dream now Broaders.

All the best,

Mort

you can have your brand new ford serviced @ any qulified mechanic and it will not voild your warrentie, you only need to have ford service it for the first 1 or 2 services, all our fleet vehicles are servised in house and we have had a few warrentie claims no worries. you dont need to keep going back to ford
