He can argue alot of items, like the throttle body cleaner. They would not have used a whole can to clean the throttle body, additives etc etc.

That's like ford quoting me $600 last week to fix a window that was off the hinge(ribber thingy)

2 hrs labor @ 104.50 p/h, plus parts, etc etc etc, (Which included replacement of a 'damaged locking mechanism') Which wasn't even broken..

It took me a Philips head screwdriver, CRC and fifteen minutes to diagnose and fix the problem myself (Simple rubber was off the hinge)

My window works! better than ever now!

As ridiculous as it is, if you gave them the nod to proceed without checking on the $'s first then there's not much you can do other than be nice and suggest they drop it down a bit.

You will have to play the ignorant card with them so they may only mark up the parts 30% not 90% and drop the labour rate to a reasonable cost.

And just say you cant afford to pay for it. Better yet take it to current affair or today tonight, they will love it

So I sat in the office for an hour and wouldn't leave until we reached a compromise. They gave me trade prices on the parts (which reduced the bill by $200) and agreed to take off the ford genuine brakes and replace them with slotted DBA's. This is only after I told them to take them off and put my old ones back on.

All up reduced the bill by about $600.

Service rep and manager both agreed that the price of the trans lube is ridiculous at $50/litre but wouldn't charge a more reasonable figure, just kept sayng "this is what Ford charge us". It's pretty f*cked up that top quality Pennzoil is $10/litre.

All up, lesson learned: Don't go to Ford.

mate they are all the same, total carnts!!

I got quoted near on $10,000 for a ;

new AP clutch + master cylinder

new PBR discs/pads all round

while we were discussing trading my car for a G6ET !!! Told them where the fark they can stick that.. clutch ended up costing me $15 of fluid to replace and bleed fluid.. brakes still need doing though but looks like $1k tops

Bit of a grey area. The service rep told me the brakes would be about $500, which I said ok to. He said "Oh, I'll just throw the premium ones on there" which I took to mean he'd chuck them in as a freebie as he never mentioned an uplift in cost. He also told me the trans fluid would be $50/bottle but didn't mention that's a 1 litre bottle and they'd be using 8 of the f*ckers. The rest of the items on the invoice are just massively overpriced. Good thing I didn't go with their recommendations for new tyres ($350 a shot), new battery ($250) and replace the rear bushes ($900).

You wouldn't know I had the car serviced 10,000k's ago would you?
