Afl Finals 2009

The first round of finals have provided some good game...

With the Crows as expected making Essendon look lame.

With an emphatic 96 point victory no less.....

The Bombers have exited the competition in a confused mess.

The fight between the Cats and Dogs was eagerly sought,

and it was a close match as everyone thought...

But the Boys from Geelong held strong in the end

and will move straight to the prelim for a finals berth to defend

Up in Brisbane a hard fought game was played under bright light

Saw the Lions trailing the Blues for most of the night...

But a last quarter surge by the vets in Vossie's side

saw the Carlton Blues losing, hearing the Brisbane fan's chide.

And the 2 strongest contestants, that I foresaw...

played a hard fought battle today, and many will be sore.

St Kilda accounted for the challenge from the Pies

and won through to the prelim, a weeks rest for their guys.

So the 2 matches we see, coming up this week...

The Doggies hosting the Lions, for a finals chance they both seek.

The young Lions are no match for the pace of the boys from the west.

Who'll progress to the prelim, 'gainst the Saints who'd have had a week's rest

And Eddie's collywobbled Pies will take on the Crows

complaining of 2 days less recovery to add to their woes.

This will be a tough game for both teams I predict,

But the Crows top form will cull the Magpies, and a loss they'll inflict.

The path to the finals will not be easy for any team,

with the Saints and the Bulldogs in a Prelim it seem

And the Cats will fight off the Adelaide Crows

in a hard paced game that will provide the eventual winner I suppose.

So bring on the finals, I'm willing and able

Yelling support for my team and wearing the Crow label

I'm off to Melbourne to watch the Adelaide boys

And see those Pies fans humbled, with a lot of Crows noise!
