Ok, first up guys, just wanna quickly say hi, so hi.

I just joined up today after spending a while trying to find an email address that was accepted by the powers that be. Hotmail not allowed, Gmail, Yahoo.... etc. I dont know why, but it was frustrating. Anywho...

Two weeks ago I had my VL turbo stolen from Reservoir in Victoria.

ONE OF the saddest days of my life thus far.

Wasnt prepared to purchase another, cause lets face it, their 21 years old+ and really starting to fall apart. Most are all chopped up and tinkered with, which drove me away and led me to the XR6T!! These things are beautiful.

The holden/ford rivalry has never really bothered me. I have no side.... my side is TURBO!! I aint driving a bitchy astra turbo around, plus ive always had a thing for the BA XRT's. Very tuff looking car indeed :buttrock:

So anyway, im going to pick up my XR on saturday night.. I can barly sleep. Im in love with this thing already and dont even own it yet!

Which leads me to this. I dont know a whole lot about these cars. The thing I loved about the VLT was how easy they were to work on. From doing injectors, gaskets, radiators, to simple oil changes. How easy are these to perform on the XR?

Sorry if this annoys anyone. I came straight from calaisturbo.com.au and members (I included) were always saying "try searching" blah blah. I have tried that but sometimes its just quicker to ask, plus other people can read this stuff too.

Ive tried researching the parts that come stock in the XR6T. I belive they have a GT35 in them as standard?? Im not too sure, and that stock boost is only 4 psi? I might be way wrong, like I said, I dont know much about these things, and am just after a little info on the running gear and anyone can provide a little insite or even a link.

Plus one more thing... I saw that the manuals are alot harder to come across that the automatics? Is that because the manuals arent real reliable?? Or are there just alot of lazy people out there!!??

Thanks... im Simo by the way.

Welcome mate and you wont be dissapointed in your choice. I reckon these are easier to work on than the vl turbo and if you want a manual make sure its the 6spd not the 5spd. Goodluck with it mate and you will find all the info you want in here and if you cant just ask and you should get the answer you need.

Matt.

Welcome across mate. I too came from vl turbos (I was a mod on CT actually) and have not looked back since getting into the xr6t's.

They do have a gt3582r fitted from factory too which means its easy to make power on an almost stock setup.

its sad but yes only 4-6psi stock depends how lucky you are, but after a custom tune it will fly. Can I ask what model, auto manuel, any mods, what are your plans for the car and anything else interesting I may have missed and :buttrock:

I miss your berlina man :(.. I swapped to the xr6t after getting 2 vlt's stolen.. sucks dogs balls hard

Youll love the car,, especially once you get some mods or just a tune into it.. Ive made a few thread on here to get questions answered but I mostly go into the technical area which has individual topics for seperate areas of the cars.. you can learn so much,, all I do it read read read and it has helped me out heaps.. What xr6t did you get? modded or standard?

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Im sure I will love everything about this car and the whole community. ETM what was your user name on CT?

Bonjaz, well, the car im going to purchase on saturday is a 2005 BA XR6T MkII 6spd Manual. Its completely standard, plan on keeping it that way for a while. Ill lower it down the track, when I get a little coin saved, then chuck on an exaust with tune later on.

I also read that it seems that alot of owners are opting for the 2 x 2 1/2" systems. Is that the better option? I was going to go with the single full 3" system. I believe that they come with a 3 1/2" dump pipe off the turbo also, which should work well with higher boost settings yeah? Twin systems are completely new to me!!

The car seems to drive really well. The only thing I did notice was a slight vibration while accelerating harder than you normally would. Dont know if that just the manual itself (My VLT was auto and was very smooth, even under full boost 12psi).

So im wrapped that I found a manual, especially 6 spd. Ive heard that the 5spd do play up abit and also that the early BA's have had diff problems? Not sure if that was only the very early model XR's? But either way, im really looking forward to the road ahead!!

I miss my berlina to dude. HEAPS.

But I can see a positive... and it takes my mind off what I had worked so hard for, and then taken from me.

Ill never lose the respect I have for those cars.. but now its XR6T's all the way... :)

LOL. sh*t no dude.

Those plates were helll gay. Im actually in the process of selling them. I got offered $200, im not going to use them, so I dont want them. $200 is better than them sitting in the cupboard collecting dust I suppose.
