Hi All

just had my Feb 09 built g6ET in for the third time to fix oil leak, first time it was sump plug, next time, timing cover bolts, still leaking ,went in last Thurs, picked it up today and was told they put a brand new sump on it as the old one was porous.now to do this they have to drop front suspension, anyway picked up car today was told all OK,but as I was driving home I noticed play in the steering wheel which wasn't there prior to me giving them the car,so I took it back in ,they put it on the hoist ,was informed some part in the steering column with a spline on it, needs replacing ,was not happy and they couldn't explain why it happened ,car has only 1800 ks on it.Has anyone else had similar problems?cheers

Oil leaks from the sump and timing cover are very common on all the BF to FG models. As far as the spline part being stuffed I reckon they probs forgot to tighten intermediate shaft on steering rack and just claimed it off by telling you that. Dont know any part on the steering to cause problem of play unless left loose. Hopefully alls good now and you have no more leaks.

It seems early built cars like mine suffer oil leaks around the timing cover and sump. And my car's diff was abit leaky as well. Have not heard/read too many cars with leaky diff though but check yours before you take it for service. No problem with the steering. I suggest checking the wheel alignment just incase it's out.
