the Penrite website says its the DX-VI to use for the ZF in the Fords, but on the bottle there is no mention of it, just GM 6 speeds.

I'm thinking I might buy 8 litres of either BMW (which would be some oil 'rebadged') or DX-VI oil, drop the pan twice and even reuse the pan/filter assy as the car still only has 33000kms on it.

or is this a bad idea?

This would be around $100 for the oil. By the time I factor in a pan/filter etc (~$200? + gasket?) plus the oil (plus my time to get parts, organise time on hoist etc), I might be starting to think its easier to drop it in at Dominello's for the service (quoted ~$580).

ive been using the atx dx-v1 penrite oil for over 40,000km runing over 300wrkw and so far so good so if your worried about using that oil dont be its been a heap better then the standard crap from what I can see

I got my local gearbox guy to do it in warilla nsw he does all the local ford ,toyota and Expensive Daewoo dealer shipwork plus his a great bloke

I bought the oil in a 20ltr drum for around 200 bucks or something I think ?

from the parts place just down the road from him and I got him to supply the filter and do the labour cost me about two hundred bucks and 100 bucks every time after that to drain the oil and use the same filter although I am up for filter change in the next month or two

anyone who wants his details pm me or if no ones going to complain ill post them up ?

cheers trev

In March this year Penrite issued a service bulletin regarding their ATF products. It clearly states that Sin ATF is their recommendation for ZF transmissions. If you have an FG 6sp and refer to their recommendation for that car, they not surprisingly recommend Sin ATF there as well. My gearbox is due for an oil change by my standards, and for what it's worth I'll be using Sin ATF.
