hey guys,

just got my new Fg xr6t, lovin it.

was just wondering, do you have to run the engine in at all. I know with most other things you do.

usually the run in determines the overall performance and life of the engine.

is it the case with these. this is my first brand new car so I haven't had to had to do it before.

thanks

From what I've read on a certain site, don't thrash it to the limiter...but don't be a baby and putt around. Work it a bit on hills, vary the speed/rpm. Cars that are run in harder produce bigger power.

This is only what I've read here and on the forums. Check out the link and see what you think!

Drive it normally.

The worst thing you could do is labour the motor, in other words dont use a too high of a gear.

In an auto this is taken care of but if you have a manual use a lower gear if you are going slow.

And also dont let it idle for extended times like in your drive way.

The day after I bought my car I did a skidpan / track day and there have been no engine / drivetrain issues.

I gave my new F6 about 100km of light/moderate load when I picked it up last week. From there on it has been driven as I would normally.

Once it has had its first service I'll introduce it to the circuit just to see what it is capable of in terms of lap times. Should be interesting to see just where its at....seat of the pants says it is rapid but that doesnt necessarily equate to a quick lap time.

Considering the way Ford builds and tests these cars, a run in really isn't required. Drive it normally from the day you pick it up.

Drive it like you stole it.

They get run in on a chassis dyno at ford before they leave.
