seduced Need more power. Now taking donations. According to a Ford expert technician, the FG engines leave the B series for dead in every area. More than just a smaller turbo.

2MUCHKW Member 350 Member For: 18y 11m 15d Posted 06/09/09 07:28 AM Share Posted 06/09/09 07:28 AM FG F6 has forged pistons too instead of cast pistons in the FG XR6 Turbo so you can lean on the motor allot harder!Good value those FPV F6's once you start looking hard. Posted 06/09/09 08:14 AM Share Posted 06/09/09 08:14 AM apparantly need to run alot more boost threw them to acheive higher power levels due to lower comp ratio. They are similar to the 270 pistons but lower comp and a stronger gudgeon pin. Both made by ACL, but if they go belly up I think Mahle will supply them instead. 2MUCHKW Member 350 Member For: 18y 11m 15d Posted 12/09/09 12:14 AM Share Posted 12/09/09 12:14 AM Yep still cast pistons bloke my bad ... just been redesigned and beefed up!Extract from Nizpro forum "After having 2 spare dyno XR6T FG engine here for some time we have now stripped a brand new FG F310 F6 engine. Well Ford have redesigned the F310 piston more than likely due to durability issue at long duty cycles. The new piston is massively strong in the side skirts and has a super heavy piston pin, all of course at the expensive of added weight. A new design helps however the piston although is still heavier than the older version but only by 2 grams with a total weight of 382.5 grams vs the BF piston at 380.6 grams. The real added weight is in the piston pin. The F310 comes in at 133.5 vs 115.3 grams. The ring set is carried over from the BF. The new total piston pin and ring set is now 540 grams vs 519 for the BF.
