xr6tufo Member 9 Member For: 13y 6m 2d Posted 20/08/11 10:16 AM Share Posted 20/08/11 10:16 AM (edited) Did this mod recently..I found that the stock inter cooler sat snug against the trans cooler.it was causing the bottom hose of the trans cooler to be hard up between the ic and condenser..I was concerned with it wearing due to rubbing, so I removed the rubber mounts from the ic and made my own moved the ic forward abit, nice 1.5 cm gap between the trans cooler and ic... I have since dropped the pan and flushed the old trans fluid. Just wondering if you guys have done a flush before and if so how do you road test the trans before driving it like normal. Have bought a Setrab cooler std 619 http://alertmotorsport.com/Product/Oil+Coolers+600+Series/4134 which will sit above the intercooler quite nicely by the look of it. I think it would be as good as the one at the start of this thread because it's 50m/m thick and a similar width although it's a little shorter. I'm assuming the three dimensions multiplied together will give a fair idea of their cooling ability. It's a relief getting the heat exchanger out especially since one of the pipes was bent when the previous motor chopped the sump in half.Install went fairly smooth except for getting covered in coolant working under the hoist.
