Nice work Riptide. You wouldn't be interested in making another one of those joiners (heat exchanger replacement) at all for some $ ?

Have nearly finished the prep work for fitting the air/oil cooler tomorrow night.

This is the joiner unit I made to replace the heat exchanger, retaining the trans pipe fittings so the hoses don't need changing. If I sell the car it will be easy to return to stock (not like the rest of it :P )

Nice work Riptide, if you where able too make a batch of 50 or so of the heat exchanger adaptor plates and fittings and have them saleable for a couple hung I reckon you would have a nice little businees oppurtunity on your hands :)

I thought about making a few of them and selling them off but there's not really the market over here. They're fairly basic to make. I'm sure someone like Stainless could make a batch of them. The base is 5m/m aluminium and the round bar stock is 32m/m and has a 20m/m spigot on the back end 3m/m long which is how I fuse welded it to the plate from the back (no filler wire). Just get a batch of spigots cnc machined to size using the old heat exchanger to get the sizes from. Diameters are from memory: front 12.6m/m x 24long and 16.5m/m x 2.5 wide then back to 12.6m/m which is only clearance. Total rod cut length is 98m/m with the 12.6m/m diameter finishing about 1/2 way along where the radius starts. The fittings can be bought in any thread so you could use a bspt thread with thread locker and forgo the flat and O-ring detail to make things easier.

So...short answer no, but someone might do it. Maybe you could start a thread and see how many people are keen :)

You beat my post by about 5 seconds. If you'd like to make them you have my blessing :P

Sorry for the hijack,

But where is the best place to install a tranny cooler when u have a huge intercooler?

probably underneath the driver headlight, in front of the wheel, with a fan on it. that's what I plan to do when I get the time.

Just a little update for BF drivers.

Swapped the thermostat heater pipe from an NA BA into my BF and got rid of all the piping that used to go into the ZF and stops my arm from fitting under the intake manifold to remove the wiring loom plugs for engine removal etc.

Drilled and tapped a 1/4" hole in the casting for a hose tail and bent the turbo water feed pipe down.

A turbo BA replacement pipe would probably be better but I already had this one :)
