I have noticed when I have WOT that I hear the BOV release air. being an auto why is this? is it overboosting?

sounds like your bov is leaking

on manuals removing the bov will cause it to be a touch lagier than having a bov.

on the 4 and 6 speed autos, removing the bov wont really affect turbo lag because your not backing off the throttle between gears.

yes it will make a fully hectic flutter when you back off the throttle, I dont run a bov on my car because I cant stand the noise of an aftermarket bov and its not illegal ;)

the only drama you run into with the auto's is the over boosting and possible detonation between each gearshift, because during a shift event the throttle will back off somewhat ( you wont feel this) as a torque limit. to help save the life of your transmission.

not really a drama with xr6t's and phoons running the stock tune, but can play a big part in how long your transmission last when you start upgrading.

removing your bov should not affect your afr or give a petrol smell, I would say that you have something else wrong causing the petrol smell after the bov removal
