The last week or two I had noticed a strange noise coming from the rear off my car when it was cold and only at low speed. Kind of sounded like a tyre rubbing on an inner plastic guard but not continuously, just now and then. I thought this was strange and decided I needed to do some investigation to make sure my wheel wasn't going to fall off or something. So I jacked the car up and had a look around checking that nothing was rubbing or looking like it was about to become dislodged. Also checked my coilovers, suspension bolts and calipers but couldn't find anything. So I lowered the car abck down and went for a test drive. Same issue was still there. So back in the garage and up onto the jack again. This time both rear wheels off, calipers removed and rotors as well. After the left rear caliper was removed the issue became clear. I had considerable slop on the left rear hub assembly compared to the right rear. After a bit more investifgation I came to the assumption that the left rear wheel bearing had failed. Now I'm no mechanic so it was off to Ford to get them to inspect and make the decision. To cut a long story short after going to Ford the left rear wheel bearing had failed. This resulted in considerable slop in the rear hub assembly. The bearing was replaced and also the stub axle as the inner bearing race was seized on the stub. Can't say I'm impressed with this failure but the service from Ford was excellent and no hassles with replacing the faulty parts.Thought this might be worth mentioning and assist others when inspecting their cars.Benny Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/61012-fg-turbo-wheel-bearing-failure/ Share on other sites

If you wanna check just jack the car up and see if there is any slop when you riggle the wheel left and right with your hands.Regards,Benny Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/61012-fg-turbo-wheel-bearing-failure/#findComment-925420 Share on other sites
