slotted rotors give the pads more bite because they remove the hot gasses that biuld up between the pad and rotor, drilled rotors aid cooling.

u would only nead drills for heavy track work, but no point cause the calipers are gonna let u down before the rotors overheat!

Bendix Advance are NOT a performance pad...period.

According to Bendix Australia

Recommended driver use: General suburban, city commuting and up to freeway speed driving, City commuting

Suggested driving style: Light to moderate braking.

By comparison. Ferodo DS2500 has fantastic friction coefficient, will handle reasonably high temperatures (certainly unlikely to see road use beyond their abilities unless you are truly feral) and sensible pricing can be found without looking too hard. DS3000 are a far more serious pad and this is reflected in cost. They are poor until hot but there aint much they wont stop.

Other name brands...EBC although I personally am not a fan. They offer greens which are suggested as better than original and seem to be much better but let down due to the weight of the Falcons

Reds are a better option and are well suited to fast road use and the odd track excursion without much compromise to cold braking performance. Yellows are a more serious option but suffer poor performance until they heat up.

Mintex M1177....a comprehensive range but harder to get here in NZ...maybe easier in Australia.

Matching the 4000 series rotors with any of the above three will give performance that leaves stock brakes looking pitiful.

Dont forget fluid in the equation. Stay away from DOT 5 silicone fluids (not to be confused with synthetic). Realistically what matters is that you change the fluid to a good quality fluid. Three affordable suggestions would be ELF HTX115, Brembo LCF600 Plus or Castrol SRF all of which have exceptionally good dry boiling points and are unlikely to be put to the test in a road application.

While I accept that there are probably cheaper options of pads and fluid out there the simple truth is that brakes, tyres and suspension are the three things that stand between you and connecting with solid objects. Trust me, invest that little more and you will be unlikely to need to revisit the braking department any time soon.

I dont even think jimmy is looking for preformance pads, if u read the first post he is just replacing standards! if that's the case there is no point putting hard race pads in it!

I guess it depends what u mean by heavy breaking jim

I've just upgraded my FG to RDA gold passivated (slotted and dimpled) rotors and matched them with QFM A1RM pads - a lot better then stock without a doubt.

A1RM specs:

Cold Friction = 0.40 - High Friction = 0.48 - Temperature = 0-780

No squealing under any braking, not an overly abundant amount of brake dust either (after rotors and pads have bedded) and extremely good braking performance over the standards.

You can't go wrong with the DBA's either though. Really good rotor for the price. Best bet is to ring them and get their opinion on which pads mate.

I'm not after something to handle a hole lot of track use but they will get a good workout round town maybe some track days in the future. I don't want to have to upgrade again to soon though so I'm after something that can take a bit without being some over-the-top setup that cost a fortune.

Your right Mike I wouldn't think I need full on race pads but I'm not sure enough to say.
