It's hard to gauge. Is that total, including on roads? I'm waiting for next year(prob FG2) but when I was looking I could get an XR6T w/lux pack for a touch above 40k on the road(current month or earlier build I think). I think I could have pushed them down to 40k but decided I didn't want to outlay the $$ this year so gave up. That price looks good, I guess the G6E really only needs(imo)the 19s as an option, nothing more... Good because less outlay, bad because you have less extras to bargain with.

IMO a good gauge is to look at what the average Joe can get a G6E for, it certainly won't be the rrp. You'll need to either ask others or work dealers down without saying you're eligible for staff discount. In reality, you should aim for around 20% off that amount discounted amount! I believe staff discount on Falcons is 22%, so use 20% as a round about figure. Stress this point to the dealers, they don't like it... expect guilt trips. This is where they make most of their $$ as I've stated earlier... staff sales. They just get the rrp minus 22% + factory refund, thank you very much.. a full retail sale! If you live in Geelong(lots 'o' staff sales), the dealer asks upfront before anything else.. "Are you eligible for staff discount". Oh so dodgy...

Good luck mate. Either way you get a fantastic world class car, which can't be matched for 30k-40k+ for features and performance.

Sorry to spoil your little theory there, but that's not how things work in regards to Ford Employee Discounts.

The is no factory rebate when a vehicle is sold under employee pricing, there is simply an invoice adjustment after the sale is made. When a vehicle is priced up there is normally a margin component, there is no margin component with Privilege Club (employee pricing) simply a reduced starting price, then the normal on road charges are added. Yes, the dealer delivery charge does have a certain amount of profit in it, however this is not a gold mine for discounts.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to put anyone here on a "guilt trip", rather I'm giving you some insight towards how things actually work when it comes to new vehicle pricing. I no longer work as a new vehicle salesperson, so I care not where you buy your vehicles.

The example of the dealer in Geelong is not dodgy by any means. I would call this good time management. Why would the salesperson spend 3 hours trying to work out a deal for you when he can simply give you an employee price within 5 minutes?

Even though I worked in Sydney I did sell plenty of vehicles to Privilege Club eligible people, let me tell you we did not make "most of our $$ here" and I'm happy to show you my commission slips which carry the remaining margin from these vehicles.

Don't take this post as an attack, although it may seem a little aggressive I am willing to answer any questions any members may have about this topic - just know I don't actually sell the cars anymore, so don't ask me for pricing! lol

Ford say they give 22% off the rrp of Australian built cars to staff, which includes Falcons. Staff who get quotes get the % taken off the rrp and have a mighty hard time getting the price any lower without dealers stressing about the already discounted price. The average person gets a big discount off the rrp anyway... up to 15% in plenty of cases, this makes staff deals less attractive and isn't right. To be honest I don't believe that the dealers aren't refunded for the staff component. I've been told by Ford employees this is the case, if not then how would Rex Gorell in Geelong survive? Selling such a large portion of staff sales? Are you saying they make nothing off of a staff sale... no way! They are in-fact taking over the town, controlling 5-6 different branded dealerships other than Ford as we speak and building.

If 22% is all of the "margin component", how come dealers still vary on the amount and are often willing to move further? They selling at a loss? I've had more than that amount reduced several times.

Its 21% for starters, but the discount is from Fords end, they provide the car at a cheaper price to the dealership. As far as I know the dealers margin remains intact, although they do provide a cheaper pre delivery cost I think.

21%, apologies. :beerchug:

Read my previous posts, this was exactly my point from the start!! So in other words, a sale to a staff member is more profitable for the dealer than a normal sale, because Ford are the ones providing the discount. Staff who buy don't get the opportunity to work the price down as they are either, 1 - already wrapped with the 21% discount or, 2 - made to feel guilty by the dealer for trying to get further discount and give up. The combined (on-roads) cost, which includes delivery is also cheaper to staff. Last quote I got, normal on-roads went from high 3's down to about 2.5k.

The discount for fpv is a bit lower I think around 17% I get the discount having two grand parents work at ford and us blue oval people are so lucky anyone who goes for the lion and have discount get like a grand off under 30g and 4g of for anything over this is what I've been told but I could be wrong. But I got quoted a really good deal for my fg f6 fully optioned without rear parking camera and air bags but with the big boy bremobs and custom red leather was around 67g on road, but that was after me walking in with a 5g deposit in cash and counting it on the table then changing my mind because he would go cheaper for the brembo's so I walked out and rang back asking to speak to another dealer then on the phone he said come back in mate and we worked that deal. I think its all a big game I'm only 23 so he prob thought he could play me.

HI,

To be eligable for ford employee pricing, you need to be either an employee or a direct relative ie: parent of employee, Sibling of employee or child of employee. Ford occasionaly extend the scheme to include nephews and neices, however not too often.

Cheers.

My pop worked for ford and a lot of our family have all bought new fords through him 22% of ford and 17% of fpv and also when ford credit was still around 8%p.a on finance over five years which was awesome my dad got his bf phoon with it saved him around 7g I think in the end..
