phoonme Member 8 Member For: 15y 10m 2d Posted 21/08/09 10:17 AM Share Posted 21/08/09 10:17 AM hey guys, my car is a stock ba xr6 turbo 5 spd manual. now I fitted boost guages a while ago just so I knew if I running the right amount of boost even though its 4 psi from factory. but today it came in handy. if you punch it and it goes to hit boost it will go to 2psi and then drop back to 0 but then later on it came good and was working fine again. its like the actuator is keeping the waste gate open. does this mean that its broken and it will need to be replaced. do I upgrade to a bigger one? also where can I get a new one?regards Jarrad Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Just make sure you check all your hoses and pipes for leaks and make sure your clamps are all tight. Also try servicing the actuator solonoid. If you need an actuator I have one lying around for $50 (standard one), otherwise you can get a 12psi for around $140 but will need a retune. Cheers. The_Bogan Donating Members 881 Member For: 17y 9m 30d Gender: Male Location: Brisbane, Queensland Posted 30/09/09 10:17 AM Share Posted 30/09/09 10:17 AM it doesnt sound like a faulty actuator to me.it sounds as though you may have a small boost leak or crack in a rubber join somewhere.possibly a crack in your manifold or loose turbo boltsas the boost pressure increases, the crack will become wider... could be a reason why you lose boost towards the end.or if it is crack in the manifold.... as the heat increases in the manifold the metal will expand making the crack slighlty larger and causing more of a boost leak..I would be going over your pipework and inspecting hose clamps and rubber joins first.
