hey guys, just picked up a BF XR6T ute on tues and got it dyno'd yesterday. its pullin 194rwkw with no mods at all. I wanna keep it lookin stock as much as possible but I wanna get it upto near 250rwkw safely. just wondering what people think I should do to get there.

in regards to injectors, I have been looking at 42lb injectors, what sort of fuel economy do people get with these size injectors? it wont be a daily driver but I will drive it on long trips anywhere I go.

thanks for the help with this one

You should be able to get there on stock injectors, however a larger set like the 42's will give you more safety margin. If you do some supporting mods like a larger cooler (stage one from any sponsor) and an under battery pipe to help it breathe better, plus maybe a larger free flowing cat and a nice cat back exhaust for a bit of sound.

Custom tune with these mods and you will have a very easy 250rwkw, if you want to spend a bit more you should look at some slotted discs and better pads to help stop it. Fuel economy will probably be better than stock once tuned as you will have more low end torque and not need so much throttle input to get up to speed.

awsome. so with the cooler, do they do a direct replacement cooler? if so who would you recommend for it. I was thinking of doing some upgrades to the suspension and brakes cos the little lady drives it aswell so I want it to be safe for her aswell. any more info is greatly appreciated

thanks

Damien

a flash tuner and a good custom tune will get you very close to 250 at the wheels. $1200 should do it.

economy wont change no matter what size injectors you put in- the difference is the 'safety margin' as mentioned above. your stockies might be at 80% duty cycle at 250rwkw, whereas if you put in deka's or similar, they would prol only be at 50%.

if you are happy with 250 at the wheels, then keep your stockies, but id bet my right one that after a bit more power you will get hungry and want more. a decent injector will support over 400rwkw, so if you do it now, at least you wont have to worry about it again.

the next mod I would reccomend is walbro in tank fuel pump. a direct replacement. just make sure you keep at least 1/4 tank of fuel with 250rwkw, or you might get fuel starve under hard acceleration.

next would be valve springs. atomic, nismo- it doesnt matter which ones, but an upgrade will be beneficial for reliability. iwent for typhoon springs- $250 or so from ford.

happy power hunting!

Valve springs aren't necessary on the bf for sub 350rwkw IMO.

macca - have a look under the sponsor section for intercoolers from Rapid Systems, Process West etc

I know myself that I woud love more power than 250rwkw, I picked it as a pretty easy and unexpensive goal to go for. so a set of 42's would be sufficient but I should get them before the tune. so how much would a set of 42's set me back roughly and where from?

Not sure about the 42lb's but I _think_ RAP1D will sell you a set of 6 x 60lb Siemens Dekas for just over the $400-$420 mark (you'll have to confirm pricing), make sure you get the 1% flow matched ones!

You will also need a flash tuner like the Xcal 3 or CAPA Ford Flash 2.

As for the cooler, 'direct replacement' is a bit of an odd term, usually installing larger coolers requires some 'massaging' of the body work to fit it in, so in that respect no - it's not a direct replacement.

Quick price list, as you're really starting to rack up a bill when you talk about brakes etc:

$420 Injectors

$500 Flash tuner

$900 Intercooler

$250+ Intercooler piping

$2350 P-series 'stage 1' brake upgrade from Wholesale Suspension / senna_T

$1100+ 'stage 2' suspension - 4*Springs, 4*Shocks + align from Wholesale Suspension / senna_T

$600 supply and fit Whiteline adjustable swaybars F+R

$500 Tune

---------

$6,620

It starts to add up quickly!

haha yeah it sure does!! well it'll all be done in stages so the injectors and tuning first then the rest. so civillian will I be able to still use the cross over pipes with the intercoolers your thinking about? that's what I mean by direct replacement. I think nizpro do one that still uses the standard crossover pipes

just a quick change from my post: utes dont seem to have a problem with fuel surge as much as sedans, so the low fuel in tank prob shouldnt apply...
