Daniel Member 299 Member For: 21y 5m 28d Gender: Male Posted 20/08/09 04:35 AM Share Posted 20/08/09 04:35 AM Hi guys, longest story possible made short:Smallest possible scrape on the rear bumper in 2007 by another driver in a car park, bumper was fixed 100% (paint damage only) but the rear grey FPV bar insert never fitted back in properly since. They sort of heated/shaped the insert to fit, use some double sided tape and I was no wiser.... Then 2008, it half falls off one day and I take it back to the shop who did the work and they say they will replace it with a new insert. Over the past year they have tried 4x new inserts, but they dont seem to be the right shape, refitting the old one 3x, but its had it.. too abused now (gr) and my car is now driving around with NO insert on the back some 2 yrs after the work begun! The (4) new inserts took months (according to Ford) by manufacturing delays and all measure up their specifications and blueprints. When we fit these inserts to my bumper, they simply are not wide enough to fit the gap of the bumper, leaving around 8-12mm on each side varying on which of the 4 inserts we compare! The bar is original, from factory; nothing dodgy going on there... No big accidents, nothing other than a re-sprayed rear bumper. Ford claim there is nothing they can do as when they fit the new surrounds to the new bumpers on their end, it is all 110% perfect.I am at a loss and just want it fixed; I'd be very keen to hear if anyone has had any similar experiences or idea to why this would happen?Ford, my panel shop, insurance company, parts dealer and I are all stumped and of course nobody wants to accept the idea of giving me a new bumper/insert and be done with it.I am trying SO hard to stay calm, but after lodging numerous complaints with Ford Customer Service (bunch of...) and taking days off work to go to them all with the new/old insert in hand to show them I am going to loose my temper soon enough.Below are some pics of todays attempt to fit #4 new insert (my 7th visit/day off work to fix this *@n thing) showing the gaps on the sides I talk about. It looks a lot worse on the car as you can see light THROUGH the bumper LOL, especially as the car is looked after so carefully in every way with no expense spared, but you get the idea.PS, I promise that's the short version haha!!I need a holiday! help

If so you may have some recourse under their guarantee?Yes, it was 'repaired' under insurance. The person who scratched it made a claim. We are both with RACV, who said just to deal with the panel shop and they would only come to the table if the panel shop is unwilling to help.Sadly, they seem willing to help, but cant; so RACV don't see it in their position to help in this situation. I praise you for being so calm this long, I would have ripped shreds from them if it wasn't right the second time. Maybe you're just a bit too easy on them. The quiet kid in the corner never demands any respect, time to tell them enough is enough.

Service and RACV LOL. Innocence is a great facade I guess
Daniel Member 299 Member For: 21y 5m 28d Gender: Male Posted 21/08/09 04:47 AM Author Share Posted 21/08/09 04:47 AM Latest update:Panel shop claim its not their decision.Ford claim there is nothing changed and that it is not their fault.RACV claim that For have changed the parts moulds and that they will offer me $800 cash settlement and I go buy a new bumper and insert myself then pay to have them painted and fitted... leaving me a HUGE bill for genuine FPV panels!W T FI will never buy another Ford or FPV or anything even affiliated in my lifetime!
