I have had no probs what so ever. The rattle would more than likely be the ones on the exhaust under the car not around the turbo. They are there to stop the heat cooking its surroundings. Im pushing over 300rwkw and all is fine.

ZAP No boost, no bottle, just my foot on the throttle! Lifetime Members 7,935 Member For: 20y 11m 9d Gender: Male Location: Sydney Posted 04/06/06 11:14 AM Share Posted 04/06/06 11:14 AM I have the problem in the F6 and had it in the T.I took the T to ford to fix and when I got it back it was worse. Rather than just one broken strap, they had managed to break 4 of them by over tightning.I would NOT recommend removing them.Firstly, they are there for a reason and could cause a fire if removed. The interior of the car will be subjected to undesigned heat and also if you parked on long grass it could also cause a fire. I am not joking...you should fix the problem properly.I went to my local hardware/plumbing supplies and bought some BIG stainless steel hoseclamps for $5 each and put them around the shields and NEVER had another rattle.I will be purchasing more of them to do the F6 as Ford seem to be unable to fix this simple problem. While I am sure many people have not had any problems with removing the heatshields, they are there for a reason. I know some people dont want to take it off because its their for a reason.....but have a think of all the people who have an aftermarket exhaust and who run high power and dont have the heat shields.......and they dont have any problems. I wouldnt remove the heat shield around the turbo though....the exhaust manifold glows red quite easily after some spirited driving Shane

You can take it off to have a look, its easy enough to remove, there is 3 bolts holding it on, 1 at the front of the heat shiled (where the split between the front and rear heat shield), 1 at the rear that holds some gold thing on ( I think its an earth point) and one on the side below the coolant reservior. Best to do it when its cold because if it is hot the metal has expanded and it will be extremely tight. I have the same problem but I think its the cat converter, im not sure.Cheers. It might look better without but it's best to keep the heat in the exhaust and shield the heat from the other engine components.
