I have what I think is a heat shield rattle comming from the engine bay at about 2.5k rpm.

I just had a look and when I just knock on the rear heat shield it does vibrate. If I remove the bolts holding the heat shield on does anything else drop off ?

I think its rattling where the heat shield goes around the rear engine lifting eye.

Any tips for rectification

cheers

I have the same problem but only for a few seconds (maybe 10-15) when its cold in the morning..

How do you remove it ? is it only just the screws?

and is it ok to remove and if so why are they on there in the first place?

I've removed mine cause I've had the entire exhaust system changed, and wrap instead of metal shielding is used. Back in the day, Trumpy had his 'fixed' many times by Ford before he eventually told them to just remove it completely. He had no issues after that. I'm not sure how easy it is to remove, but by looking at my stock system sitting in my garage, as long as you can get under your car, you SHOULD be able to undo the little bolts that hold it together.

I removed mine recently due to rattle. Its in two pieces with bolts and a couple off straps. Cut the straps undo the bolts and the bottom part drops. Top part is a pain but keep pulling on it and it will come off. If someone can help you it would be easier. I had to get someone to push the exhaust over to get it out.

Good luck :spoton:

I think there for what they say there for, but wont removing them put the engine at risk. Most things arnt there for no reason at all.

I think a turbo charged motor needs all the heat prevention and shielding it can get.
