Excessive Fuel Usage

Took my car into Ford for some warranty work...as I needed to get some bushes replaced...and I also mentioned to the service guy that im consistently sitting over 18L/100KM on fuel usage...no matter how easy I drive it...and I have always thought it might be a faulty O2 sensor etc...and he replied by saying that he cant muck around with certain settings on my computer because there is some type of program the cops have locked into the computer which they cant unlock...but this would be a cause of the increased fuel usgae he said...im fully aware of the myths regarding chasers and im the first to say they are standard bar slotted rotors and some other minor extras...but does this service guy know what hes talking about??? Or is he blowing me off...as the fuel usage does seem to be a bit excessive...any advice would be appreciated...

Your Dealer = NFI

Point him to this thread

They can flash the ECU and do what they want to the car. The only change police mode does is bring up the speedo on the LCD in the dash.

FWIW, it may be useful to check that the problem is not an artifact of the testing process.

So,

How have you calculated the fuel usage?

If using the trip computer to calculate average fuel usage, have you reset the trip computer?

Regards,

aa

If you're getting anywhere from 350-450km to a tank that's normal for these things. So don't stress if that's the case.

Jeez, mine hasn't been that heavy on fuel since the first 2months of owning it. Here I was getting annoyed with 550-600 from a tank (58L used at the most)... However, if you are doing a lot of stopping and starting ie lights etc, and then give it a boot full each time to get back up to speed, it will suck it better then a $10 hooker...

As the others have said mate, take it to someone else, it's obvious he has no idea.
