When someone rings you though, what comes up on the ICC screen - still only a number, or the name from your phonebook?

I can confirm that only the phone number and not the name comes up on the icc screen.

That defies the laws of physics by simultaneously sucking and blowing. I'm no genius but I wouldn't have thought it to be such a tough thing to work out

As for fuel gauge... well, the closest you'll get is 11 litres off it seems. I took mine back a few times, it was about 17 litres off originally and now they say they've checked it a number of times and that "no fault found" <img src="https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/uploads/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bangcomputer.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":finger:" border="0" alt="bangcomputer.gif" />

Had the same argument with Ford regarding my fuel gauge. 3 sensors later was still faulty, so I decided to fix it myself. I really do hate Ford touching my car at times.

Turns out it was bloody simple. The steel float arm was slightly bent (all I'm talking is 2/3 mm) and this would give a variance of 10 to 12L on the gauge. If you ever take the fuel level sensor out of a tank you will see how easy it is to bend the float arm without realising and how much care is required to put it in.

Now I can assue you, when the needle is on empty and the trip computer is flashing 0km left, it really really means it. :finger:

With the fuel gauge problem, I do recall the service advisor said they took some thingamabob out and measured the spring rate and found no fault! But they missed checking for 'bent' steel float arm altogether.

How do you take the 'steel float arm' out of the fuel tank? Looks like the irs has to be dropped?!

I assume access to the fuel tank on an FG is the same as a BF.

If so, you need to remove the rear seat and take the fuel pump out. Make sure your tank is low on fuel, as you will get quite wet and smelly doing this.

From there you need to unclip the sensor from its bracket and remove it carefully, check the float arm (straighten if necessary) and put it all back in.

It was a known issue with a batch of them being built with bent arms, had mine replaced at the 3K service. Not sure on exactly what months were effected though.

Ask ronburgundy about it...he's quite the expert on the matter :cry:

Must be a bloody big batch, as my car is an early 07 build, and all of your cars would be 2nd quarter 09.. lol..

I doubt its a build thing, I think its more an installation problem. If you get into the tank and see how you have to install the sensor, you can see how easy it is to bend the float arm without realising.
