Just wanting to know what most people have done about this constant brake shudder issue!!!

I had my discs machined a 5000 k's and I noticed the same problem one day later and it is still happening (currently 6000 k's)...

I have seen that a few people have purchased DBA Rotors and therefore I have some on order... The main problem is that FORD have not fixed the problem properly yet!!!! (PISSED ABOUT THAT)!!!

The service manager has told me that FORD have instructed them to machine discs constantly until they are illegal then replace them..(with the same discs that cause the problem I suppose)!!...

What I impose is that if FORD will not fix the problem properly and I have to do it then I will expect them to pay for the new dics and labour of course...

I reckon if they wont agree I will be writing a letter to the ACC.....

What does eveyone else think of this...?? Do I need to go to that extent..

frankg

something needs to be done about this problem.

mine has been skimmed three times and they keep telling me the fix is comming.

I dout very much that ford will pay you to purchase aftermarket disks and as has been said on other posts it may not just be the disks that are the problem, it could be a combination of several factors that case the problem.

I will be dammed if I am going to fork out more of my money to fix there stuff up.

I wish you good luck in your efforts to get this problem fixed.

as fare as I can see ford don't give a sh--, they are to interested in making a big proffit.

OK guys,

here's my experiences!

I had bad brake shudder starting from about 5k's, lived with it until about 15k's where it was quite bad.

Ford machined my original discs, after which the barke performance was cr*p, due to the rough surface

Then fitted a new set of DBA Gold drilled and slotted front discs, which took the braking performance to a completely new level of smoothnes and performance, especially when making repeated high speed stops.

I used the standard Ford brake pads, and things appeared sweet until recently :ermm:

Shudder was beginning to show up again, only very slightly, but it was definitely there.

I contacted DBA for advice, and they suggested changing the original pads to Bendix Ultimates, as there was some evidence that the original pads left a residue on the outside of the front discs, probably caused by the constant dragging of the pads mentioned in the original brake shudder thread.

I decided to take this advice immediately, and when the wheels were removed, it was very clear that there was a pattern of dark spots on the outside of the discs, which was not there on the inside of the discs.

After changing the pads, the slight shudder is reduced, the discs are totally clean on the outside, and I feel confident that the shudder will disapear completely in a few weeks.
