I previously had a BA MKII NA. Both of them were the same. The seem to have a rattle in the rear shock absorbers. I took the local service manager for a test drive and he said the XR6 suspension does that especially when cold. Seems like the tops of the shocks are loose, or that's what it seems like.Does anyone else have a similar issue? I HATE rattles.I was thinking of just redoing the shocks to non standard. That being the case can anyone suggest a solution that maintains the ride but gives better handling? I don't want to go too harsh but surely the already good handly can be improved.I await the forums expert advice...as always. Before my warranty ran out I mentioned it to Ford and they "tightened" and checked all the rear suspension. It worked because after that it was dead quiet but after a while they all came back. Go aftermarket through Pedders or another reputable workshop . I'll go the 27 mm front as you all say the 30 is too stiff. This wont fix the rattles but Ill get a quote on some springs and shocks as well.Stuff it. If I can't beat the rattls, I'll beat the rattles. Please don't yell at me. I know I was saving the money for a holiday but my baby is just too dam important. To make matters worse, I have stiff rate pedders shocks, so it really transfers every bump in the road into the cabin. What did the ford guy say was the cause? is it the way the shocks are mounted? free play in the bushing mount?drives me nuts, ive had it at pedders, and they did the full diagnosis on the oscillation machine thingy, couldn't fix it. even after going over every bush in the rear end. Bilsteins are the way to go apparently. Also, make sure your brake pads aren't rattling. Bash the side of your rim with your hand and listen for any rattles. (Well a little more but you get the picture) So what I say here don't take as gospel. But the Ford guy siad it was the way the shocks were st up. Its like there was freeplay in them before the dampening came in.Now don't abuse me if it sounds like crap, but I swear to go in both my BA AND the BF it was the same.I went into Pedders today and booked my car in for Wednesday for front and rear sways. Now, correct me if I am wrong here guys please. He said the Whiteline and Peeders bars were the same thing; one was yellow the other whatever colour but they came of the same line. He also said the standard spings arent too bad and a good way to go was with a set of their Sportsryder shocks. Now of course a Pedders guy is going to say that. But are Bilstiens/Monroes that much different or better?? I dont mind spending the $400 odd for the sways (well I do) as the benefits from what I have read are great. But I don't wanna blow a grand on shocks when I could better spend it on a custom tune.Thoughts????? Sports riders are mariginally better than the standard shocks, however because they are new they will feel far superior than your old worn out shocks. Koni would have to be my pick for shocks though, you can re-build them and they can be valved to suit any application from comfort to 90/10 drag shocks Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/60616-ba-mii-rear-end-rattles/#findComment-920791 Share on other sites

I HATE rattles. This is a long shot but it cured my rattle in myBA check your bootlid inside ,those strutes that hold the boot up when open ..When theboot lid is closed the strutes rub on the boot lip ,,,,,, look along the edge and you may see a small shiny bit where it rubs ,mine was rattling more when car was cold,I used a small hammer and lightly tapped the mark a few times and filed a bit off the strute and fixed.......... misty Edited 15/08/09 11:56 AM by misty Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/60616-ba-mii-rear-end-rattles/#findComment-920986 Share on other sites

Do you have a tow bar fitted? If so when they are fitted the nuts inside the chassis rails have a piece of wire welded to them to make instillation easier, sometimes the person installing the bar forgets to remove the wire. You end up with a rattle that's impossible to find!Sorry bumper has to come off to fix it..Deek Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/60616-ba-mii-rear-end-rattles/#findComment-920991 Share on other sites
