I am looking at an ex ford executive manual XR6T FG which has done 20k klms. Drives and looks OK, a little suspect as it has a brand new set of tyres. Would of preffered to see the original tyres however know the Dunlop sports only last 30~35000 klms..

It has a shorter shift gate than my BAmkII 6 speed seemed very direct. The clutch was either in or out very different to my BA. Drive train seemed very quiet, no clunk ! and very responsive.

Is there anything in particular to look out for with the FG's.

I currently have the suede sports seat in the BA, the all leather feels like it will get very sweaty

I think it was a march 08 build, has there been any recalls or factory updates in the last year ?

Anybody had any bad experience with these ex Ford cars.

March 08 doesn't sound right for an FG.

They didn't start mass producing them till May.

Some early cars had an issue with timing cover oil leaks due to the wrong length bolts.

Could have been a press car...if so keep away from the sucker!

If you're in Vic and the plate has "XFG" on it then maybe look for another one.

Must be ex-press. To have new tires already, Id say its copped a flogging from day one. You get what you pay for.

I wouldnt be too worried about a "new set of tyres"... cars need to be driven hard from factory.

they already have been "worn in" at the factory. so theres no need to be easy.

id take 20,000km on a set of tyres if I could

- leather doesnt get sweaty

- clutches are fine, but doesnt take much to overheat them (on track)

- diff bushes are still prone to going.

bad inferno...I changed my tyres at 22000km still had a little in them but not much.....Mate I think like all fg xr6t they would have the ass driven off them....don't know many people that don't get addicted to the speed...who every bought the car your looking at new would of given it heaps too, like you will if you buy it...If you want a turbo car that some old bloke drove to lawn bowls with his bowling hat and cardigan ...buy a GE6T

Yup  Grab Tab's GE6T after he has finished with it, guarantied not to have been flogged, nor washed for that matter.

Can't wash it too much, might fade the paint.

Some bastard has been flogging it...apparently there was rubber under the rear guards. :roflmbo:
