Hi guys,

For quite some time now I hav been having this problem in which ill be slowing down at the lights for instance and in the last 0-10km/h b4 I stop I can hear this loud humming noise from the brake and the brake pedal vibrates under my foot, my brake pads are fine also discs have been skimmed so all in all the brakes work fine apart from this!, its almost like ABS is kicking in but no light comes on or anything?? Any help would be greatly appreciated as this problem is really annoying me and nothing worse than having a passenger in the car ask wats that noise and u cant explain it :(

Thank you in advance!

well going by what you said that the braking system is fine(vibrates under foot it could only be disc's) :hiwelcome: .....could be a road noise from the tyres....

Only thing is the there is no vibration at all at any speed, braking is really smooth up until that last little bit, in which car is pretty much stopped then it does it but it only lasts for about 2-3 seconds, could it be something to do with ABS kicking in due to fauly wire on dirty solenoid etc?

ABS and TC lights on could be a dirty ABS sensor. Have you had your Rotors machined on car ie: with the rotors not removed?

My car will illuminate both lights but if turn the car off and hold my tongue right a few seconds later when I restart its all good.

Then it won`t do it for ages or do it a few more times that day. Brakes feel awesome with the ABS inactive, I actually don`t like feel of the ABS. Its ghey and intrusive.

A brake expert told me that the ABS in these cars isn`t all it should be or could be.

1. Rotor grind on car. The usual suspect.

2. Pad pins...... Make sure they are strait and tight.

3. Upper control arm bushes.... Go super Pro and fit 2mm washers either side of the new bushes.

4. Rust on hub or inside rotor housing..... Get some emery and clean it off. Spray carefully with an anti corrosive.

Cheapo Pads? glazed discs? Did you get all four discs 'skimmed'?

Sounds like there is a vibration between the pad and the disc, could be from incorrectly installed pads or a sharp leading edge? maybe put in backwards? or Left Right mixed up?

Other option is ABS, but you would expect the light on, have you got the same size wheels and tyres front and back? does the light come on if you set off the abs otherwise?

The ABS light should only come on if the system has a fault. I have driven a car once that had an issue in the low speed part of stopping and would activate the ABS for no reason. This would vibrate the pedal while it was doing its ABS thing. It was very annoying and dont know what caused it.
