Mine thumps into 1st when almost stopping.

My BF typhoon also did it, so I just think it is the result of a well driven car.

I also notice it does it more in perf mode than standard.

Don't stress about it too much mate......according to Fraud its 'normal' and just something the box does as "it learn your driving style"

I've taken it back 2-3 times in regards to this and they flashed the box and it still does it and that happens when I drive the car normally.

A good thing is to get use to driving the car in sports mode and leaving it in second gear when coming to a stop...then either shift to first or take off in second.

Does it do it when you slow down to almost a complete stop and then if you take off again while rolling it kicks back harshly?

My BFT does the same thing. The ZF appears to loose drive to the tail shaft and you can hear the diff pinion loose contact with the crown wheel momentarily and back on again as it shifts through second to first. Can also hear it randomly 4th back to 3rd if you listen hard…

Whilst stationary shift manually between first and second and you hear the same thing. Don't recall the 4 speed having the same issue. Has 40k did it before and after tuning.
